Extended Warranty

So I was just wondering if anybody bought the extended 7 year warranty. I was offered that option for about 1100 extra which extends the 3 year warranty to 7. How was your experience dealing with the business manager? He also tried to sell me all these extras including tire warranty and some sort of GPS tracking device like lojack for like 1200.

Tire warranty? Does it cover nails, flats replacements + TPMS sensors?

What does the warranty cover? Everything the normal one does?
$1100 for 4 extra years sounds like a steal.

Never heard of Subaru giving out extended warrantys, at least in Canada.

The tire warranty covered all those only if you were on stock or similar setup so I declined. The extended covers everything the normal one does. He told me that this warranty was not priced according to the class that this car belongs to which is a "sports car" class so the price was only 1100. Also, any mods - electrical or mechanical - would void the warranty.

My dealer wanted $1,700 for the extended warranty (!!!). I quickly turned that down - especially if I end up doing any mods later on.

With extended warranties you have to ask yourself how long you normally keep cars. If you typically get a new car every 3-5 years extended warranties (IMHO) are not worth it. If you keep your car 5-10 years? Probably worth the peace of mind. Especially when you start talking about a car with direct injection. $1100 seems pretty fair. If you are a USAA member check with them. I have seen other people get extended warranties for under $1000 through USAA.

I opted for the extended warranty. Since I financed the car for more than 3 years I liked the idea of bumper to bumper coverage for the entire time I'm making payments. If just one thing breaks then the warranty pays for itself. Even if it doesn't the increase in monthly payments won't make a dent in my spending habits.

I wouldn't bother with extended warranty. I have extended warranty on my current legacy 2.5gt and I haven't used its perks, not once. Waste of money. It's a Subaru, it will last forever with or without warranty.

yeah they offered me a lot of extras including bringing the $1200 "ClearAll" crap they offer down to like $250 but i still turned it all down. the most sketchiest things dealer do is sell you on the services, that's where they make all their money. it's just a clearcoat anyways, it already has one out the door.

I was quoted $2200 for the 7 year/100,000 mile Gold extended warranty. I'm definitely interested in the warranty, just not at that price. Shopping around at other dealers for a better price.

Wow. For that price, I'd self fund.

I was quoted $900 and change for a 100K, 6 year warranty from my CU. I don't normally buy extended warranties but that really could be recovered in one after warranty breakdown.

I bought the 7/70k for 1,159. They scammed me by saying end of the month 33% off BS. I originally turned it down but they made me sign a paper saying I was aware of their friends and family deal and I declined it... Then I caved at the very end, added 20 bucks a month or so for the added security.

FWIW, if you say no to the warranty at point of sale you will still get nagging letters in the mail from subaru to urge you to get an extended warranty - and - they will usually be at a better price.

I decided to get a 7yr/70k mile warranty. I plan on keeping this car for roughly that time frame, so the added piece of mind is helpful.
