ive got an extended warranty, and i think its a waste of money.
But since this is a first MY of the car it might be a good idea to have it just incase some bugs show up later. |

Costs for existing Scions:
http://www.scion.ca/scion/en/owners/ecp/new-vehicle-ecp 84/200,000 = $2,099 $2,599 (for tc) Not sure about FRS pricing. I'm assuming thats something we could work out when the car starts rolling in. Quote:
I guess we can't really make any calls till pricing comes out - but If we get a good deal on warranty I think I'll bite for the peace of mind. |

Extended. Warranties are often not a good idea.
Things to keep in mind: 1. They are usually through a third party (the dealership won't call attention to this). The dealership will do work under the extended warranty but they get paid by the warranty company. Make sure the work is covered/approved before they start. 2. They cover less then the manufactures warranty. 3. They are non-transferable except in private party sales and then there is usually an administrative fee. 4. They are refundable at any time (again minus an administrative fee). The refund will be prorated based on how much time/miles of the warranty have been used. They can be a good deal but take the time to really read the contract and understand what you're getting into. |

Realistically any year1 bugs are going to be found in the first year or two - so the full warranty should cover that issue. I won't be touching any extended warranty unless it's on some used premium car with risky issues.
Our biggest risk is simply resale if on year 2 they make dramatic power improvements. Just look at the previous Gen Coupes or Mustangs the year before a major power increase. Make SURE you have GAP insurance on your car. |

If it was really worth while subaru would do it at the factory. This is just another way for dealers to make money. |

I seriously advise AGAINST these warranties...i've had them in the past from both Subaru and Nissan.
Things to Consider 1.) If your car is modified, they will deny any claims 2.) Even if you're stock, and you claim a legitimate warranty issue, you have to fight tooth and nail to get a result. 3.)Coverage is weak 4.)If you shell out an extra say 2,500 for 6 years coverage, you have to realize this. You GET 3/5 years coverage for buying the car already. So that 2,500 goes towards coverage for an extra 3 year Bumper-to-Bumper and an additional year powertrain. Much less value when you put it in these terms. 5.)Japanese built Cars are as reliable as they get. The likely cost of repairs(if any) after warranty is gone likely won't exceed what you would've spent on a few extra years coverage from a half-assed plan.

-Undercoating is just some gunk that covers the exposed bodywork from the underside of the car. It'll just wash off eventually. Makes no differences whatsover to the mechanicals. -Paint protection is just a special wax -Rustproofing is just some gunk that is sprayed inside the gaps on the doors and hood......which honestly doesnt do jack. Waste Of Money. Watch out for those windshield protection thingies. All it is is a coating on the windshield which supposedly beads up the water making the wipes better. You can just buy new wipers which come with this stuff. The only thing that's actually worthwhile is the rock chip film (stoneguard, 3M film) that is applied to the front bumper side mirrors, and front part of the hood. |
