It's still in the bodyshop now.. We're waiting till monday till a "top toyota technician" to come..

They can't figure out what's wrong except it's electrical..

I'm sad.

@FRSure just ask them to replace it as it is "non functional". Did you tell the adjuster that the transmission didn't work anymore when he did his adjustment? That alone would've probably pushed you over the threshold. I wouldn't let them work on it anymore until the responsible insurance companies adjuster looks at it.

Nope, the transmission wasn't included in the quote..

The bodyshop told me it's a little problem... Although not sure how little. The car drives fine though.

But they assured me it's not a transmission problem but a electrical problem.

Guess I won't really know till the toyota tech comes

Alfa insurance. They told once it is in gear it drives fine. But they can't put it in gear unless manually overriding.

Just dust on photo 3. No worries.

Like I said earlier, they told me the car has no gear problem, once in gears it drives excellent, but they can't get the shifter to shift without manually over riding it.
> They have to use the screw driver to move the solenoid so it can shift. When they press the brakes, they can't shift.

Honestly, at this point I wouldn't get the car back.
If it meant taking the owner who rear-ended you to small claims court,I would. The current car is NOT safe. The mechanicals have been compromised and God knows what else down the line. And once there's mechanical issues, it isn't fun, trust me.

I have no choice...

They told me no suspension and transmission damage according to body shop. And the shifter not working is electronic?

As in this before picture.. The bottom of the car isn't damaged at all..

How the hell can they not diagnose this tiny problem with the shifter not working? -_____-
They have to take a for a top tier toyota technician to look at it on Monday.

Well, with a new transmission, it certainly would have gone past the "totaled" threshhold.

Of course you're going to keep making them fix it, and keep making them pay for a rental until it is fixed.

Was this the insurance company's prorated shop or one that you chose? If the former, then call them up and let them know what's going on and that you want a total loss.

If the latter(your choice of shop), it's now entirely up to you to keep them working on more stuff they initially missed. Whether or not they can reopen the claim or not I don't know, but you have a right to have it fixed properly no matter how much money it costs them. It's their fault they underestimated the estimate.

It would be time to hire a lawyer if they refuse to continue fixing it.

Today the car has been finished being repaired, however, there is still one problem they can't fix.

The car won't shift in to reverse neutral or drive, but it will mechanically if we over ride it. Once over rided in drive, it only shifts to neutral, drive, and M. The car drives fine.

tl;dr, car won't shift

Anyone know what could be the problem?
To be honest, you should focus on making sure the insurance pays for the car to be returned to it's condition before the accident. What caused it is the problem of the insurance Co. unless they are giving you some lame excuse as to why they are not fixing it.

You do have a choice! Take it to the dealer to get an estimate and cause. You are entitled to have a Toyota Certified technician do a mechanical inspection.
