I shook on this.

I feel 80% sure he is right based on the evidence you guys have compiled.... well... the bits of evidence lol

...still my gut feeling tells me his words are true. I do hope its upgraded to 220hp and not +22 LOL

turbo.
We actually have no information on a 2nd generation besides the fact that it might exist.

As for the facelift, there's supposedly minor engine and chassis upgrades that come along with it (~5hp/tq).

Who knows though.

As for the turbo, I don't think that's happening unless Subaru makes an exclusive STI version since Toyota has expressed that they want to keep the car NA to keep the spirit of the AE86 and have a nice flat power band.

Several shops have tried to make new intake manifolds for the FA20. They have not seen the results they hoped for. It seems the stock intake manifold, like the stock intake, is already pretty good.

This is the intake manifold of the new GRMN 86 prototype:

It looks a pretty advanced design ...

I think so too. But, not because of picture. I think turbo because of FA20DIT on WRX. If Subaru did it with their own DI, I think Toyota will do something similar, or else scratch out FA20 for a non flat engine of theirs.

I kinda want it to stay FA20 but with Subaru's DI for turbo!

Plus that [lame] rumor of a electric turbo.
MY2018/2019 means around 2018/19? Or is it with the new production coming out now?220 hp would be great.

Nice! Right from the start, I thought the intake had the biggest room for improvement from the manufacturer. The Ferrari 458 for example uses a 3 stage intake that is able to give it constant torque while remaining smooth. So this design looks like a multi-stage intake too, which is just what it needed. I hope it makes it to production!

Shouldn't it be MY2017?! With all the current "information" and speculation? I mean why would they even have these facelifts rolling around in Germany, if it wasn't for MY2017?

According to my source (you guys don't have to believe me if you don't want to), the facelifted 86 will be announced in Japan some time during 2016. He's not 100% certain at this time, but leaning toward the first half of 2016.

Unless you can steal a German dealer plate it's not going to work:

"Car dealers' plates are in red print on a white background, and the code begins with 06."

All of the previous test cars for this platform from Toyota have started with DAU 06XX

This same plate (DAU 0679) was used on a Lexus GS test mule back in 2010
http://my.is/forums/f41/just-how-sig...t-mule-419952/

"The first silver-blue GS test mule bears a DAU 0679 license plate, a visibly widened rear track, taped-over exhaust pipes and first appeared on an Edmunds Inside Line article by Erin Riches. "

Goddamn I was about to type that out and realized someone else noticed it before me all the toyota mules have had DAU XXX
