Yup. It would look good, though.

This is stupid to say but....

Dealer told me that for MY2018/MY2019 FR-S, he was told at meeting (in late OCT):

"...the Scion FR-S will enter a new generation with more performance upgrades. I am 100% and i'll bet you 10% discount on car price it will. If I win, you purchase a new one (FR-S) with 10% discount on my part. If there is no new performance upgrades of at least 22hp, I will give you all 4 tires brand spanking new for free and 1yr oil changes on my dealership."

I shook on this.

I feel 80% sure he is right based on the evidence you guys have compiled.... well... the bits of evidence lol

...still my gut feeling tells me his words are true. I do hope its upgraded to 220hp and not +22 LOL

I think so too. But, not because of picture. I think turbo because of FA20DIT on WRX. If Subaru did it with their own DI, I think Toyota will do something similar, or else scratch out FA20 for a non flat engine of theirs.

I kinda want it to stay FA20 but with Subaru's DI for turbo!

Plus that [lame] rumor of a electric turbo.

The idea is to use a new intake manifold, a new ecu mapping and to change a bit the internals (e.g., use lighter pistons with less friction). The latter could provide an engine that revs higher and this can increase the max. output even more. Overall, I think they can approach the barrier of the 220hp which is a nice improvement! In fact, there is already a car with these changes. It is the latest GRMN prototype car. It has a maximum output of 219ps/7300 rpm.

Any rumors about using the FA20DIT engine don't make sense. They could take such a decision 4-5 years ago. Now it is too late to go into such direction. Not because of the turbo, but mainly because of the combination (2.0 Liter engine + turbo). A more appropriate candidate could be the FB16DIT engine which is 1.6 Liter, but this is a decision for the new model and not the revision/facelift model.
