2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback & Sedan

The design actually doesn't look half-bad. Also will come with a six-speed transmission.

It actually doesn't look bad the way it looks now. But the new one is fine aside from that huge screen sticking up above the dash

I don't like the headlights. Reminds me of the Prius.

Like every modern car they ramble on and on about how nice the interior will be. I've never understood the importance of this.

Renault looks better IMO, like it was designed as a hatch. The Corolla looks like they decided to beat the tail with a mazda hatch so they could try it out without actually making a nice cohesive design.

That's the part you actually interact with on a near constant basis while driving. Most people care about that to varying levels - go count the complaints that the twin interior is cheap and spartan along with the not enough power complaints. I'll fully admit I'm not typically one that cares much about interior, but on a long road trip, some of that starts to matter more to me.

Lol it's possible that engine tuned with bolt-ons can make more power than ours if it can rev/breathe... 13:1 compression 2L. I doubt it will from the factory but that's pretty interesting...

Also I saw some of the pictures and had to check that they weren't of a Mazda 3.

Hmmm, maybe the engine and 6 speed can be made to fit in my Spyder if my 2ZZ/C60 ever breaks.

I think this is the next gen engine but without the hybrid electric supercharger. The GR HV concept attached adds the ESC + batteries and probably beefed up components. Toyota has been hard at work developing this tech in the TS050 Hybrid WEC car. Toyota specifically points out this tech is intended for road car usage and the next 86 is the perfect platform for this (light and small so an extra 50bhp and tq are noticeable improvements.)

I expect this 2.0L due to international considerations for cars with engines larger than 2.0L. It should produce 230-270bhp and 200-210tq. The car will use the same 2+2 configuration once again for tariff and insurance purposes. Moving to a new engine configuration is also the reason Toyota dropped the boxer badge side badges and marketing from the FR-S when it brought the car in-house. No reason for Toyota to use anything but this engine in it's hybrid version of the car.

Such a huge blind spot imo. And I already see plenty of people on the road who are seated way lower than they should be. Like, regular people whose eyes barely reach the dash. Imagine having a big ass display taking up even more height.
