If you're that valuable, demand more money. I keep giving my most vital employee significant raises each year. I gave my hourly employees a raise too. Nobody had to ask. One did ask for more per hour, and I asked for a schedule change in return. Then they stopped asking.

Everybody really is replaceable. If my most valued employee left, it would be an all-hands-on-deck moment for everyone, and schedules would shift a lot. I'd have to work harder. I'd also look for a couple employees to replace him, but then I'd pay each of them half as much.

Thats one schtick I cant get over. talking with the group of you some ex navy friends. and mentors in other arenas im trained up in like 5 peoples worth of jobs...

so do I get to pick one? or charge alot and do all 5
