Do you guys have a go to jacket that you always wear in the winter?

I got like few dozen jackets, but there’s 1 jacket that I always go to. Doesn’t matter the occasion (formal or casual), it works nicely. Only con to that jacket is, it’s not rain/water proof. It can handle light rain, but after heavy rain it will get wet. Kinda funny part is, I bought that jacket from the Old Navy as an one time use… but here I am w that jacket for near 2 decades.

Sadly it’s almost time to replace that jacket… looking around for new one, but can’t find one that impress me.

Usually I wear an old hunting jacket that was retired from use. Do I look like a nerd in camo, yes. But I am warm, dry and don’t care.

I usually go with this North Face fleece jacket our company gave us. Gray, has the company name, gets the job done for just about everything.

Fun story: Girlfriend and I both work for the same company, different accounts/sectors. She's the one who ordered the jackets for her account and got me one too. Mine's a medium, hers a small.

Headed to Pikes Peak to hike and drive it three months ago. It was obviously cold up there, so I brought what I thought was my jacket, but it was September, so I just grabbed whatever one was out and tossed it in my carry on.

All my summit pictures are of me wearing this small/tight jacket over a hoodie because I grabbed hers

Haha I don’t need to blend in anywhere. Plus at my work, might be lil hard to blend in.

Of course I have Georgia winters not Utah winters, but I have three I wear.

One is a DTA hoodie that I bought at the Long Beach First 86 event. It works on casual days and for all but a handful of winter days

I also have a heavy EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) jacket that has my name and tail number of my airplane on it, and a Lifetime Member badge. It's waterproof and has a removeable fleece lining. This is my cold weather coat.

The third is an MA-1 style flight jacket that I keep in the trunk of my car for when I forget to take a jacket and end up needing one.

Oh, and I guess I have a 4th. I have a leather suit-style jacket I keep at work for walking between buildings when I need to look "fancier".

My jacket choices are all based on the temperature. My unlined leather jacket is good down to 50F. From there to the mid-30s I have a short Carhartt jacket I wear. From there through the teens is my light parka. Anything below about 10F I pull out the heavy parka.

Not a single jacket, but a handful of layers and options from Patagonia, Mountain Hardware, and Marmot. I've had most of it for 25+ years though I had to replace the waterproof shell and added a down jacket more recently because I couldn't pass up the color. My goal is to be comfortable on my walk to the train but not freeze once I get there and stop moving. Stay dry when it's spitting out. And be seen by cars. So I tune the insulation layers to the weather - a few. Waterproof shell when needed.
Super light windproof fleece, midweight fleece, slightly warmer hooded polyfill ultralight, down jacket, down vest, waterproof shell. Windproof fleece is usually solo or with the shell. I can stack the other layers, though I can't do the shell over the down jacket.

Speaking of staying warm, recently I’ve bought those hiking warm pants to keep my legs warm. My upper body is warm from all these clothes, but legs were frozen from just jeans lol

R32 GT-R. I don't want to spend the money on an R34, even if it's my all time favorite car. Haha.
