BRZ Fog delete for air duct/cooling

So I need some more room upfront for tranny cooler/oil cooler/heat exchanger (water/air intercooler) and thinking about doing a fog light delete. I know APR sells them for $655, but seems pretty excessive. There is quite a bit of room in that area of the bumper, so I am planning on putting my oil cooler in there with a custom bracket.

I have several options for this:
Take out the fog lights, keep the OEM bezel and smooth out the hole.

Have a bezel custom fabricated by a local shop with a hole (not as nice as APR ducts).

Buy the APR ones.

Has anyone taken out the fog lights to use as another intake/air flow in that area? I know just putting an oil cooler with no air flow will help with oil temps, but I really like some air flowing in there for added dissipation.

I wanna say @PRORICAN did a fog light delete and used this as a source for cooling.

But I say, don't buy the APR ones. I think it's waaaaay over priced. Even for CF.

Yeah man, way overpriced. Mount your oil cooler and then build a little sheet metal air dam for it. Wish I was closer, I'd help ya.

I'm looking at doing something similar. I agree that the full APR kit is a lil expensive. So I do have another question about doing the fog light removal.

Has anyone, or does anyone know how to, wire up the DRL's as the fogs?

damn well done guys, to be honest I don't use the fog lights at all, and not sure why people think they look that good on our cars. Rally cars sure.

When you do the fog delete, is it better to have some kind of mesh/grill on them to prevent shit flying inside of it? I can probably fab that pretty easily. I hope.

What parts did you dremel @PRORICAN ? What did you use to smooth it out?

I just trimmed out the flat covered areas on the back of the fog housing to create the holes. I also did part of the bumper where the housing sits on since it blocks part of the airflow as well. Its easier to explain with pics or just showing you in person. I'll see if I have old pics from when I did it.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. do you the oil cooler in there, and did you do both sides of the fog housing?

I don't have an oil cooler yet. I'm waiting on skunk2's offering for the kraftwerks kit and possibly get that one. I would only use one side so which ever fits better.
