Strut Bar Testing

Friday funday... a pic from some destructive testing of our strut braces. Deformed ends and creaking carbon fiber means as a whole these things are strong! The weak link is almost always the interface (bond) between different materials, but the high-end epoxy and design gave our 10 ton press a bit of a struggle before finally giving in.

Thanks Guys!

Yes, we were also impressed with the holding power of the epoxy. Adhesive technology has certainly improved over the years!

Looks like the adhesive was applied directly to the glossy surface of the rod. I bet that's why it failed there.

The bottom one looks like it may have had some horizontal scoring done but the top was certainly shiny.

The top was as-is, the bottom two were scuffed. We were curious how much of a difference it would make, but it wasn't noticeable. For all of them, they were deformed before making creaking noises and eventually failing.

We have these on our 22 BRZ...they're really nice pieces in person. In stock at our friends Mach V in Virginia by the way.

I want to put a set on my 1st gen but I'm not sure if it will clear my STI strut bar. Will try to find time to do a test fit soon if no one else does.

Do you have the torque specs for the bolts? I just got mine and want to install them in my first gen.
