Harrop supercharger removed, now won't start?
I am swapping my harrop supercharger to a different car.
I have removed the supercharger and refitted all of the stock components, but now it won't start. I'm getting error code P2109, throttle position or pedal position sensor A - minimum stop performance. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? |

Today I've tried 3 different throttle bodies and an ECU swap. Engine cranks but no start. Still getting P2109 error. Checked all connections. Maybe I have damaged a connector/loom somewhere...

I pulled a throttle body apart to see what's in there. Not much actually. An electric motor (obviously) and some kind of magnetic encoder sensor thing. No electronics at all.

I'm working on it alone so I can't see the throttle plate move when I press the pedal but I can hear it moving, and the OBD app I use on the phone shows both pedal and throttle percentages which appear to be good :-S Strange.

I would clear the code and then I would disconnect the negative battery terminal for 5-10 minutes to reset the ECU. Try connecting the negative battery terminal and see if that fixes the problem.
If that doesn't work, considering the circumstances and the fact that you have tried several different throttle bodies, I would suggest that it is likely a problem with the wiring harness. I would check the throttle body connector to make sure the pins are straight and that they are fully locked/seated and don't move back, and I would check for continuity. The throttle body harness clip is a common point of failure. The fact that the car cranks, but doesn't start after said install sounds like the classic issue of not having the injection driver (EDU) bolted in position, which means it isn't grounded. This is the electronic control module that is on the left side of the engine attached to that blue bracket. When you said you changed ECUs, you were referring to the only ECU the car has, right? The one that is under the dash on the passenger side? You weren't referring to the EDU in the engine bay, right?

The car is mad at you for taking away its air.
What stock components put back? Did the injectors or MAP sensor change? This would be an issue if not reflashed. If not then you will need to reset everything for a relearn. |

+1 on this. Also, after any reflashing you should perform a throttle position re-learn procedure: 1) Turn key to ON position, (or on a keyless model, press start button twice without stepping on the brake or the pushing in the clutch). 2) SLOWLY floor and fully release the accelerator pedal 10 times. 3) Turn key to off (or press start button one more time) to shut down. Then start the car as usual. |

Thanks for the input guys. I am currently trying to get the original ROM put back on the ECU. It's been tuned with ECUTEK and I am having trouble finding someone who can restore it to factory tune.

The original tune should exist in the ecutek library

yes you just need an ecutek kit and you have all stock tunes inside of the software

OK, so it seems it was my mistake
When I pulled the supercharger I left the injectors/fuel rails on it. My spare stock manifold had all of the original hardware on it. I am not sure of the origins of this manifold, it been in my parts stash for a long time. I think it mush be very old and the injectors have all gummed up. I swapped the injectors over and now she runs Something interesting though. The inlet air temp sensor now reads 10degC hotter than before. The harrop air temp sensor must have different scaling to the stock sensor so flashing back to stock is still necessary. |
