Are you changing the pressure relief valve too? Past experiments with higher volume pumps did not show a significant change in OP.
When I was researching my OP problem, (which was my JR dual rad), I found that Element Tuning had restricted oil flow to the left head down to around 1/8". Also, are you shimming or changing the oem oil temp sensor? |

I'm leaving the relief valve stock. On a cold start it bypasses at around 110psi. When the oil is hot, the bypass shouldn't have any real influence on pressure.
The timing cover has been opened up around the temp sensor. I don't know if restricting oil to the heads is wise. The cam phasers bleed oil continuously to maintain cam timing. Restricting a little bit won't make a difference, the phasers will still bleed the same amount of oil to do their job. Restrict a bit more, there won't be enough oil for the phasers to work properly. There are already restrictor plugs in the head galleries. I guess you could replace them with smaller ones. The bigger pump is more about improving flow than pressure. It will allow me to run looser clearances, moving more oil to keep the bearings cool. I will also have a go at making the sump bigger. There's not a lot of space but I think it can be made wider. Hopefully get an extra liter of oil in there. I will definitely be adding some kind of baffle and a bigger pickup. |

Modified pickup
SRT hemi oil pickup screen with a 1" tube fitted to the stock pickup flange.
It will need a brace attached somewhere, it's a bit longer and heavier than the stock one. I'd hate for it to vibrate/fatigue/snap off... |

If you look closely you can see chunks of silicone and destroyed bearing in the original pickup hehe

New baffle plates. Upper plate is bigger and sits up on spacers. New lower plate sits in sealant groove and should limit oil sloshing away from the pickup.
With the upper plate sitting higher, it should be possible to run more oil without windage problems. If anyone wants to make some of these, pm me and I'll send you the .dxf files. |

Wide mouth of the pickup actually increases the area where air can be pulled instead of oil. Imagine sucking through a straw with the same shape. Now imagine tilting your glass.

Yes, baffle bolted to top of upper pan. Lower baffle sits in the sealant channel and gets glued/clamped in place when the sump is fitted.
This engine is a fresh build. Nearly 2.2L with oversize sleeves, 90mm pistons, forged rods, all balanced and a harrop supercharger. |

The wire screen looks very fine. Killer Bee and other pickups use something more coarse. I hope yours won't be a problem.

Billet pickup
Change of plan. Billet pickup with 22mm ID tube and a removable/replaceable mesh screen. Tube is longer and aimed at the middle of the sump.
Next to make is a 10mm thick spacer between sump and block which will increase oil capacity by about 0.4L. |

sump spacer and mesh screen
10mm thick sump spacer and new mesh screen in pickup. Mesh is the same pitch as OEM, but much larger area. The spacer has tabs on it that I will probably use to add a brace to the pickup. Vibrating pickups tend to snap off after a while.

Are you putting a spacer on the oil pickup? Oil below the pickup is wasted oil.
