Laguna trackday Video footage

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but I'm pretty excited about the cool camera positions I've been playing around with lately so I thought I'd share them. I was able to catch the rotors sparking and glowing red at the end of the day, and I tried out a foot well view too to catch my foot work action.

Modifications are PMu CR brake pads, whiteline front camber bolts, and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires in OEM size, on OEM wheels.. The MPSS tires seem a lot more predictable and forgiving than OEM primacys, which give you some more confidence. It didn't seem like I had that much more grip with the MPSS, so I took a look at my lateral G data. Interestingly, the MPSS have a tough time sustaining 1.0G, which is exactly what the OEM primacys did. I compared to my friend's BFG rival tires, which are 10mm wider than stock, and on wider rims with wider offset. He was able to sustain 1.1G. With a lot of improvements to be made still, I ran 1:53 with my setup.

Fast laps and glowing rotors start at 4:40, footwell view starts at 8:36

I do keep saying that the OEM Primacys are really good tires... they just overheat quickly and stuffer from tread squirm.

Great video! Completely jealous of you being able to race at Laguna Seca ... I'll get there someday!

May I ask what telemetry setup you are using? Is it just a bluetooth OBD2 reader and a piece of software or something more sophisticated?

Skip to 6:31 to see a Viper in purgatory...

Not racing. Just doing laps.

I'm using AiM solo DL for my datalogger, and then overlaying on gopro video using trackvision

some great driving there @orthojoe and fun to watch. I nearly spit my drink out when I saw that just on your 2nd lap, still warming up and in traffic, you already matched my best laps of the day LOL.

Thanks. I've still never done a socal track. Maybe one of these days...

Thanks. You'll be there soon enough with more seat time. I'm not doing anything spectacular. Study your video to see where you can improve. Keep your car as stock as possible and don't change anything so you can determine if you are improving your driving skills each time you go out.

Great video. I haven't done MRLS yet, but it looks like a lot of fun, especially with the elevation changes. On my bucket list. Thanks for sharing!

What device/software are you using to get that data overlay? It looks like the same animation used in the F1 broadcast.

Good eye. That's because it is. Trackvision has a dash display modeled after it.

Doborder, you're just complimenting me because you know it's an indirect compliment to yourself.

When you you say 'they', you are including yourself.
