Nearly any manual transmission vehicle will 'let' you downshift from high rpm's, to even higher rpm's which can cause the tires to skid.
It's not a feature. It's driving your car wrong and trying to break it. |

ended up slowing down for a red light next to a new corvette a few years ago. guy clearly didn't understand how to drive stick, he started downshifting from 6th for the red light, and never rev-matched. by the time the car jolted into 2nd, i was crying for the car.

Unless you started training very young it isn't worth the heartache.

I daily drive mine (on rotation with 2 motorcycles), I also take it to the twisties (even more so than my motorcycle these days). I've found that the good balance makes it easier to rotate/turn, where as you approach the limit the car doesn't snap at you, it just progressively gives up, and you can correct it by just reducing the input and let it get back under the limit, even with traction control off (disclaimer: use at your own risk). I actually found the track TC makes the car wants to drift/turn-in even more... no like. I got a 2013 version less than 3 months ago. Heard the later version (2017 and up?) is tuned more for stability, not as tail happy. Also, you can make it even more stable by upgrading the OEM tires, which should be the first upgrade everybody does to it. It still makes me smile. Hope you got the car. |
