I fitted formula friction pads with power brake rotors.
Made a huge difference from stocks pads. Then, swapped the stock calipers for WRX 4 pots. That made a huge difference on top the first difference. |

Thanks. So you have the same sized rotors, just better ones with different pads?

PB rotors are 294 x 24mm, same as stock.
But it is better quality, heat treated and slotted |

Same as GeeTee86 - WRX calipers front & rear, PB discs front and braided lines all round running Motul RBF660 fluid.
Just bear in mind, std spec got tiny rotors so upgrading to 294mm would make an even bigger difference. If you're set on getting a big brake kit, have a look here: http://www.ctsvbrakeswap.com/subaru-...er-bracket-kit A friend's done it on his Subaru with 330mm STi discs from PB. Just make sure they'd clear your wheels. He's running 18".

I have stock 17" rims so if the PB rotors, pads and better fluid makes a much bigger difference then I'd rather do that than spend big dollar on a BBK.

Finally got around to ordering a set of power brake rotors with endless pads and motul 660 fluid - should all arrive in a few days.
Excited to see the difference

If you use Bendix Ultimate DB1803U rear pads (for standard spec) from Powerbrake, then right now their pricing is very good.
I don't know if this is due to exchange rate fluctuations or a mistake. In April 2017 and again in August 2017, I paid 1793.20 incl, and today they're at R1300.74 incl.

Just received new pads from Powerbrake and the front pads are the real deal again - genuine BLUE Endless pads from Japan.
Some of you will know that I had a big fight with them last year about the quality of their locally made RED clones. Thrilled that they've listened to their customers Also pleased to see that the Bendix rear pads I received are the ones manufactured in Australia which are better than the others.

All I’d say is this.... when it comes to brakes get someone with REAL knowledge to help sort it out. It really is 1 part of the car you don’t want to fail. Also maybe take the wheels off and check for obvious signs of something wrong in the meantime?

Decided that today's the right time to fit the new front discs I bought a few months ago.
I've been watching this crack slowly growing, and now it's time to replace.

Yep, surface cracking is normal.
Deeper cracks like this one are a problem.
