Thanks, but I do now have a new radar detector ..... it's called mrs humfrz and it goes SQUAWK-SQUAWK-SQUAWK ........ any time I go over the speed limit ..... followed by a reminder of what she could have bought for her granddaughters with the $125.

$125..... so cheap. Do that in California and you're looking at $400+...

Cops love busting people on 101, I just make sure I'm going the speed limit. Take it as a compliment humfrz, kinda like how you still get carded when trying to buy a six pack. You rebel, you...

If you drove an old gray Buick he might have just ignored you and never made that u-turn. However you manned up and acknowledged you were probably speeding.

I was pulled over back in college for going 4mph over the speed limit (34 in a 30). No weaving or aggressive driving. It was approx 2:30 in the morning in a college town. The officer came to my car in record time and stuck his whole head inside my driver window. I think he was trying to get a whiff of my breath to see if I had been drinking or if there were drugs in the vehicle. Luckily I was let off with a verbal warning.

I thought this constituted as profiling at the time, but sadly many kids driving around that late at night in a college town are probably coming back from a party or the bar. That same officer has probably pulled over tons of kids and gotten them on more significant charges. This all stemming from speeding. Just don't do it.

In my piece of shit Corolla, I always drove 10+ over speed limit. Probably most of the time I had it, never really paid attention. Never had any trouble from the cops.

July 4th weekend, a month after I bought the FRS, I was pulled over for going 65 in a 60 mph zone. Attributed that to holiday weekend, orange sports car that stands out in a sea of black, white, grey cars, and....

lost my train of thought.

Sucks you got pulled over.

Not the same thing, but I feel I got singled out by the border patrol on the Swedish side of the Øresund border bridge from Denmark last year.

It was bright and early one lovely morning, well before the rush hours.
I had a long way to go and a short time to get there; so I had my sunglasses on, some cool beats on the stereo and a heavy foot when a uniform jumped out from nowhere and waved me aside.

-"Step out of the vehicle, please." (In Swedish. Think of the muppet chef.)
At this point I figured I was either getting a speeding ticket or being strip searched while having all my stuff pulled out and tossed around. Or quite possibly, both.

-"So, where are you headed today?"
"Home to Norway."
-"Yeah, I saw your plates. Where have you been and for how long?"
"Uhm... Denmark, Germany... Places like that... for a week or so..."
-"Cool. Anything in the trunk?"
"Mostly dirty laundry. Wanna have a look?"
-"Nah, that's allright. Say, it's a cool car you've got here!"

And he kept talking to me and talking to me about my car, he's read about it and likes it and wants to know what it's like to own one.
I told him I've met a lot of interesting people just by showing up in my GT86. He likes that, too.
When he starts pulling out a cigarette I politely ask "...are we about done here?"
-"Oh, sure. You can go. Sorry for keeping you, I get bored sometimes."

Lucky you are not in the Slammer with no bail. 68 in a 55 is down-rite dangerous. You should really be more careful. As a matter of fact, you should have your "Hot Rod" impounded and should really be driving a Buick.

Nice.

Out of curiosity, what language was used to communicate there? - A Norwegian coming from Denmark into Sweden.

Are the Scandinavian languages similar enough like Portuguese and Spanish or are most people there fluent in those three particular national languages?

I speed all the time in my white work van and they ignore me. I think "hot rod profiling" is real.
I also haven't received a speeding ticket in my car with a radar/laser detector, PASSPORT 8500 X50, in the 10 years since I have got one and it's saved me many times.

Most ticketed cars in US for 2013-2015 had Twins, no?

Get a dashcam (hopefully with gps so it can kinda track your mph) and inform the officer that you have a dashcam that is recording as well and that you can show him what speed you were doing or were on cruise control. That's got me out of a bundle once and I had my GoPro! GoPro doesnt record speed...lol Hit me 2min later...

Anyway, yeah seems like he tailed you. Had to meet his quota to pay his credit card donut fees (no offense to anyone on the forums), but there are a few turd officers out there. Years back, a CHP (CA HWY patrol) admitted at a recruitment meeting in my college that there have been cases of them being angry and jealous of someone driving a nice car and pulling 'em over. Take it with a grain of salt though, he was bad at jokes.

Understatement of the year. I love cops because they get the bad guys but for some reason when they are on the road working, they all kind of just seem to become jerks.

I had a drunk guy, smelled alcohol like he dumped it on himself, t-bone me. He had a brief case that he wouldn't let go of the entire time we were there at the scene. Gee, I wonder what was inside it? When the highway patrol came to the scene, I explained how I turned on a green arrow but he would not look at the light for some reason to see I was telling the truth and he gave me the ticket for going through a red light. I obviously took the ticket to court to fight it. While waiting to go into the court room the drunk guy is talking to some other guy and we overhear him saying something about going to eat after this guy. Didn't think anything of that. Come to find out this guy was a surprise witness that nobody knew about that supposedly stopped and gave drunk guy his info and then left the accident scene..... Yeah that whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth for highway cops for a while. I was 16 and was driving a older Camaro and the drunk guy probably 50 and a newer Cadillac or Buick. I think it was more I was the younger driver thing as that cop just didn't care what I had to say about what happened.
