I acquire assistance

I have ESR SR01 18x9.5 +35mm, I’m on stock suspension just for now until next month or so. What size tires would you guys recommend with no rubbing?

You can run 245/35/18 (this size has been recommended by many if you search the thread), or 235/40/18 (suggested above). I ran both and prefer the first one since there's less stretch.

Sorry, 225/40-18 ET45, what are the biggest spacers I can run on front and back without rubbing the arches? Thanks!
EDIT: front and back camber is -1.5 degrees, with comber plates on te front and natural with lowering on the back

It should fit worst case scenario if does not fit you can run a 3mm spacer up front. The tire sizes i would recommend are 245/35/18 or 225/40/18. If you go with a 245/35 tire size just know you will not be able to add any camber up in the front as that will rub. Yes, a stretch would help but personally im not a fan of stretching wheels.

The tire size will clear, unless it is unusually wide by design. I'm not sure if that rim size fits though? I have 18x8.5 +38 and it barely clears the spring.

How bad would the stretch be with the OEM Michelin pilot sport 4s 215/40r18 on 8.5" wheels? The rubber only has around 5k kms on them and ideally I would not buy new rubber for the new wheels until I wear down the stockers. Anyone have pix?

Hi Everyone,

I am thinking of two potential setups. Car is completely stock. at the moment. The two ideas are:

1. Square setup with:
18 x 8.5" 42mm Offset rims all round with 235/40R18 tyres.
2. Staggered setup with:
18 x 8.5" 42mm offset with 235/40R18 in the front
18 x 9.5" 45mm offset with 255/35R18 in the back.
Would either of these setups be fine? Leaning toward staggered as I think it would look cooler. Would I run into issues with the different diameter of fronts vs rears?

How flush would they be?

Also for context the rims I am thinking of going with are Motegi MR146, has anyone ran these on an 86? Cant seem to find info.

Thanks so much

Sorry dont have any pics, but i can tell you its going to be a noticeable stretch. Probably wont be too bad as it is okay to use 215 width tires with those size wheels. Maybe someone else can post some pics...

Personally, i'd go for the square setup. Both setups will work on stock suspension, but it isnt going to look good because its going to be poke and will look like a 4x4. Unfortunately none of these setups will be flush until you lower your car. The 235/40/18 is going to be kinda tall so you're speedometer is going to be off and will affect your gearing as well. Id get a 225/40/18 or 245/35/18 for fronts or a square setup.

Theres no problem running different tire sizes for a staggered setup. I wouldn't run staggered because theres no benefit in doing so. This car doesnt have enough power to warrant a staggered setup. Also, from factory this car was setup for a square setup so i would stick to that. You wont be able to rotate your tires either especially if you end up changing your suspension and a staggered setup makes it understeer more. If you care more about looks than go for it you'll get a lot of mixed responses about running staggered setups.

My main concern is the rim lip poking out too much and I miss dodging one of the multiple potholes in our pothole riddled roads and messing up a good wheel. Would like to not spend money on new tires with barely used stockers. but I'm also afraid cheaping out on rubber will cost me even more by permanently damaging some expensive wheels
