NEED HELP!! TPMS light on. with TPMS installed on aftermarket rims+tires
Did anyone here had the same problem before?
I got 4 Rota Grids 18X8.5 rims with 225/40r18 tires. And i putted factory TPMS in my new wheels today. Tonight when I was driving it, I slide at a corner. The TPMS light was on immediately. I parked at a parking lot and turned off my car. After I turn it on again, the TPMS light was off, and I waited for about 10 mins but did not see then on again. I check the tire pressure on 4 wheels. 3 of them are around 38, driver side rear tire pressure was 35, which is a little bit lower. I am not sure whether the problem was because of the installation or because the TPMS does not match aftermarket wheels. Will factory TPMS work on aftermarket wheels? especially on lower profile wheels. If yes, I think the problem may because of the installation of new rims and new tires. I cant check it cuz no store will open tomr. Thanks!

Fill the 1 with 35 to 38. All you need to do is make sure the pressure is high enough to not trip the sensor, 38 really should be plenty.

The factory tire pressure is around 30 right?
so 35 or 38 should be good i think. And I dont believe that the tire shop did not match 4 wheel pressure for me. So I am worry about the TPMS and wondering that the tire was leaking because the TPMS(also value) was bad when I slided. maybe lower profile tire would bend the TPMS?

the pressure of the tires that will set off the light depends on what psi the car was reset to. also sometimes the sensors even if above the min amount but differ by more than X% will trip the sensor as well.
so fill the 35 to 38 and see if that helps first. |

% will affect also?lol. Thank you. So that make sense.
I did not reset the senses. I am still worried because the tire was just installed today. The tire shop should match 4 wheels' pressure for me. So i am thinking that whether that wheel was leaking. or it was leaking because I silde? that will be terrible. never hav problem on my stock wheels.

Garfull is correct in the differential of pressure between tires is one condition that makes the light come on as well as them being low psi (not sure how low since mine were below 30~ish and it went off for me.
Stock tires are 35 psi cold. Also note that the stock tpms can be quite a distance from the car and still not trip the light so they have range. The aftermarket rims should be just fine. I had my stock wheels about 50 feet away in my house when I had new rims mounted and it would be fine until I drove about 20~ish miles away the light would go off. I would drive home and the light would go off as I was in range of the oem tires and tpms sensors. Now the slide causing the bead to loosen and leak some is possible. |

I don't think sliding would effect the sensor in any way, but if the pressure is low it might take a few miles for the light to come on, so maybe it was just a coincidence. Once the light comes on it will also take a few miles for it to go away again, so put the pressure at or above 32psi cold on all four tires and go for a drive.
