For lower back exercises i always stuck with just normal conventional dead lifts. Or Russian deadlifts, however you want to word it. Didn't do too many lower back exercises, that way i can go heavy and get some pretty mid to high reps with it. I don't want a really thick lower back, more of a thicker upper back and a smaller lower back. It's all personal preference for me though.

Did you pick up a gym pass along with your bf? The gym is a excellent place to start if you have it to your disposal.
Nah.. I had the 24 pass until that shit got kinda expensive. The body weight training I've done was like running up and down hills at different intervals. Occasionally I'll carry up a sand bag and use it as extra weight but that's all I've done.

I also pretty much hate going to the gym with my bf because this mofo has A LOT of excuses. "I have to start small because I just started!" He's using the same amount of weight as I'm using for low squats, leg press and calf raises. Maybe I've done sports a large chunk of my life but his "I'm just starting!" excuse really bothers me. Also his damn eating habits sucks. He's kinda like... a Planet Fitness guy. rofl I call him out on it every time.

But he got a Chuze membership (you can bring a guest in for free) recently and it's pretty much the same thing as a freaking PF gym, but I need it for the weights so I don't care too much. Now I'm just pushing him.

Thanks! I'll get on that!

Anyways, thanks for the fun little pokes at each other through the earlier parts of the thread (I went through it lol). On a side note I'm going through all the BB.com and SimplyShredded to read a bit more on the supplements and there's a shit load.

When I did sports back in H.S we only took whey and the rest was just "no fatty food and junk." So a couple of more questions... lol my bad.

Which is the most IIFYM accurate information you can give me.
Glutamine and Casein... When to take them.

I only plan on doing 3 different supplements for now since... Iono I just choose too unless you can convince me otherwise. Also they're pricey.

Anyways thanks for the help guys. Muchos Appreciate it.

He should be able to squat and deadlift his own bodyweight fairly quick.

I hope I can get him to deadlift his own weight. He has some weird shitty genes. All of his fat is centralized to his stomach. I think its the stress from working. Cortisol what a bitch.

Yea I've seen those planet fitness commercials. What a bitch gym. lol It's pretty much saying... "you can stay fat as long as you come to us at least once a month." I can't stand that!

MUST. BEAST.

Just figured I'd chime in here. I started crossfit a month ago and really enjoy the program thus far.

I have been an athlete my entire life (football, basketball, biking, hiking, spartan races, etc).

I have done many different types of exercise, but never much in the way of Olympic lifting. I've always been more of a cross trainer and circuit trainer using machines, body weight exercises, and cardio. I still use my Bowflex and run/hike to fill in the gaps from crossfit.

I think the most important things to realize when exercising are pretty basic:

Eat Healthy- By this I mean kick the processed junk as much as possible and keep a balanced diet

Enjoy Your Exercise: It is pretty simple, if you don't like what you're doing, you won't do it for long and fall back into bad habits.

Sleep!: I am a RPSGT, sleep tech, by trade. I can tell you this is one of the most overlooked facets of health. You can try to exercise and eat right all you want, but your body needs time to heal and regenerate. This isn't just your physical body but your mind as well. Give yourself enough time to sleep every day and don't be afraid to throw in a nap (less than an hour) once in awhile.

As far as making everything a pissing contest, don't get caught up in it. I've known plenty of guys that could push more weight around than I could, but couldn't keep up in real world activity. Having a big gas tank is just as important as big muscles.

As much of an anti crossfit guy i am i hate to admit that i would most likely enjoy the sport. I did a lot of intensive sports in the past. I think what i hate the most about crossfit and what causes me to dislike it are the people who strut around saying, "you got the physic but what can you do?"

I won't be doing the opne this year. I am just not ready for something like that yet. i am still learning a lot every class.
@Vincenttam I hear you. I can't stand the look at be bro types at the gym. That is the main reason I never got into olympic lifting. You really have to find the right crossfit gym.

Something else I forgot to mention. Pre/Post Workout Hydration.

I relearned this the hard way. If your piss is yellow before you work out, you need to drink some water. Your muscles need water to work properly and heal. If you are constantly dehydrated, you will never be at maximum efficieny and your recovery times will suffer dramatically.

If all you drink is crap with sugar, suck it up buttercup it is time to drink some water. It not only helps your muscles, but increase the digestive process' efficiency.

bodybuilding.com has a lot of good information but it's a pretty old forum. Not to sound like veteran forums are bad but they have a lot of new to veteran people. Alot of the people on that forum has turned into this srs brah mrn dude that just trolls at your comments or has the ego to make another person feel down. I mean there is a good majority of people there that are cool, awesome, and actually tries to help you, but it just feels like a lot of them don't care to give advice and just end up bashing someone with inside jokes.

When i first joined it a few years back i posted a meal i made. It was a healthy chicken fried rice. I got bashed so hard on it because it was called "Fried rice." They literally thought i fried some chicken and rice in oil. In direct chinese translation it should be chow rice, like how people say chow mein. But for some reason we ended up calling it fried. In Chinese chow means to stir fry, or pan fry. Or basically to cook over a pan with oil. What i made was simple, pam + brown rice + chicken Breast. What i got was full negativeness and unlikes. So many to the point where i looked like a troll with a negative rep and 1 post. Thats why I've stopped going there and taking part in their forums.

Some inspiring stories here, as well as some seriously dedicated workouts.
In the past, Ive had great success with P90x, but after a couple of rounds, I got bored. I practice a lot of yoga, as Im also a teacher, but am always looking for something new and fresh.

Has anyone tried the new P90 program with any reviews to share

I don't do p90x I honestly think doing a sport is better than p90x if your into it for the fun. If youre just dedicated to losing weight and getting fit than your going to have to zombie through p90x. I rather play badminton or practice martial arts if i want to do something that makes my heart rate surpass 9000. Not talking trash about it just not my cup of tea.

I agree. P90x is an excellent program as it's very simple, however it becomes boring quickly, which is why I'm looking for a new part-time program to work with. I've trained with a trainer and the results were amazing, however it's not easy on the wallet. The trainer I go to is unconventional, sort of like Xfit but without the cult-like aspect and one-on-one. Free weights and a jungle gym atmosphere using my own agility and bodyweight.

I've tried the Insanity as well, but again... bored. Once you start learning the lines of the DVD, it's time to quit

I've completed p90x twice, great program for those who are new to working out and have no real direction. I have had great results.

I am using Beast, from beach body. Beach body put out p90x and insanity. It's more for gaining mass. I like it. I'm a vegetarian. It's hard for me to gain mass because I'm skinny, but this program is working the best out of all the things I've tried. Eating a clean balanced diet is the way to go. I also eat every 2:40. It's a lot of work, but the results are worth it. Consistency is everything!!!!!! Don't give up!

Your summer beach body is forged in the cold of winter.
