Hi all, finally posting up.
I made a mistake when I took my 2007 Prius in for service. I jokingly asked the service guy if they had an 86 available as a loaner. He said no, but they did have an older FRS. So, dude pulls around in a yellow Release Series 1.0 and tosses me the keys. Halfway home, I knew it was a mistake because now I wanted it. Long story, short version; made an offer, but it's a flood car they would lose their ass selling, so it's a loaner/beater. Thought about it, discussed with wifey, then went in to buy 2014 with 17,000 miles. It was sold, so ended up buying the "last new 2016 in the state" which was probably sales BS, but I don't care. Good price. Great car, totally worth selling my pro-touring Firebird for, and I look forward to catching up on a few years of posts. No mods for the moment, although I am thinking TRD suspension and liking the Grimmspeed stuff.... We'll see. |

My new 2017 86 GTS arrived yesterday. Going to be hard keeping it under 4k rpm for the first 1600km's.

I know what you mean. It was definitely tough, but I also found every reason I could to drive as much as possible when I first got it so the break-in period would go rather quickly.

Hey everyone, in the process of purchasing this FR-S. Picking her up Wednesday!
What should I know? Besides driving her, anything else I should do? |

Do a lot of searching and reading in this forum, and spend some time looking at the issues/TSBs/Recalls section to give you some things to check out. Unfortunately your question is simply too broad as far as what anyone could tell you to know and do, so best advice is just to read up on this forum and ask pointed questions on anything you need to know more about.
Early congrats on your purchase, and welcome. You picked a great car.

I was also tossing up between White (White Liquid) and Red (Ignition Red). I didn't like the old white, it always looks dirty to me, and the car was only coming in on order so I went with red. Very happy with my decision though. |

Did they swap the battery location, or are just the RHD cars like that?
