Just based on presumptive specs. And when I say Supra price range I mean the whole range including the 4cyl to be clear. I could see the new Z base in the low 40's and upper trims at 60.

And what is it about the presumptive specs that dictate a $10k+ increase in price for the base model? For reference, the base 370Z starts at $30,090.

The 370z is 11 years old and limping off the dealer lots, is it even relevant?? A base Q60 is $41k while the 400hp Redline is $57K. Assuming they aren't just shortening the chassis like usual to make their sports car and possibly wanting to move up market their competition is the Supra. Introducing it at just over $40k with 400hp would be amazing.

It is relevant for the price, which is why I said what necessitates a $10k+ increase in price.

They can design a luxury sports car like Toyota did with the Supra and call it the 400zx, or they can keep the luxury Nissan the GTR and have a cheaper sports car. This seems much more logical.

With that said, the VQ was used in the Skyline/Infiniti G35+ and a million other Nissan models. Just because the VR is in other Infiniti models, and they are expensive, doesn't mean it needs to be expensive in the 400Z.

You guys keep bringing up the Q60. Maybe I am missing something, but why not discuss the fact that the 300hp VR in the Q50 starts at $36.4k? If you look at Audi, BMW, Lexus, etc, they all sell the coupes more expensive than the sedans. This could be a volume thing. This could be that they put more tech or features into the coupes like a manual transmission option, but for the most part, they are $4-5k more expensive with the same stuff. This means that if they can put a 300hp VR motor in a $36.4k luxury sedan then they could put a 300+hp version of that motor in the 400Z for cheaper.

My best guess is that the new 400Z will start at $32k with a 300-350hp VR. The options for different trims will go up to $40k. There will be a NISMO trim that starts around $45k, which will have a 400hp+ version of the VR. My guess is that they will want to keep the car inexpensive and low priced to undercut the Mustang GT and Camaro SS.

Some more garbage renderings. I bet it will have some type of "v grille" that nissan is so proud of. Yikes. Hopefully it is actually a good looking car at the end of it all.

Most of what I read says it will be built around the Q50 platform, the FR or FM or something. I don't know why everyone else keeps saying Q60 either unless they read something I didn't. I am not following this car very closely, just with a distant interest The closer they keep it to the Q50 the cheaper it will be, but due to volume or needing specific parts that won't be comparable with the Q, I see it being more like 40. And as pointed out, the 370 was largely unchanged during it's production run. That is all.

We will see. There is no need to increase the price by $10k. If a Mustang, Camaro or whatever jumped in price by $10k with a new generation then people would flip. This isn't a Porsche.

Just as a reminder, the C8 increased in price by $3,500 over the C7 with a new LT2 engine, a unique dual clutch transmission, and a unique mid engine platform along with a new body and interior.

The corvette is always a bespoke new chassis, and historically costs twice as much, and sells in much higher numbers.

The Q60 is the 2 door version of the Q50

This says the YII has served as the basis of the Corvette platform since 1984, so yeah, the C8 is on a new platform. The point is that they didn't significantly raise the price just because stuff changed, nor will the Z just because it has some new stuff.

Yes. And? The 370Z is a coupe and shares its platform with sedans and bigger vehicles including the Q50 and Q60 currently. Just because the 370Z has two doors and so does the Q60 doesn't mean their prices are linked.

Next Nissan Z Car Production Could Start September 2021

https://motorillustrated.com/next-ni...er-2021/48399/

Quote:
New Nissan 400Z could arrive in time for Christmas 2021
  • Upcoming Nissan Z could be called Nissan 400Z
  • Production could begin in late 2021
  • New Nissan Z part of a full lineup of new or updated Nissan models coming in the next 18 months
  • We got our first look at the upcoming Nissan Z car in a video published last week by Nissan. Now, a forum member on New Nissan Z is reporting that production for the new Z will begin September 2021.

The post was first reported by The Torque Report. The member gives nothing to back his or her claim, but we do know that Nissan is planning 12 new models in the next 18 months. Bringing the Z back in September 2021 would work within that timeframe.

Nothing about the new Z generation is really known at this point. We got a good view of its outline and general styling in the Nissan video published last week, but nothing more.

Rumored to be called the Nissan 400Z, it would use the same 3.0-litre V6 from the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport 400 which develops, you guessed it, 400 horsepower. Like its predecessor, it would be a two-seater.

Expect a ton of leaks, rumors, and teasers from around the web from now until the next Nissan Z breaks cover.
