I think she means uncomfortable in the sense that everything is very tight. She comes from owning a Crosstrek and then a Mazda 3, which are much roomier. I like the seats of my BRZ as they snug me just right to stay in place during sharp turns.

She also dislikes being so low to the ground so getting in a out is sort of annoying. Plus the suspension is much stiffer than the Mazda where it feels like you're driving a cloud.

Reason she bought the Mazda 3 is because she loved my old 2013 Mazda 3, which I have to say, is probably one of the best cars I've owned in terms of comfort and practicality.

What year is her Mazda 3? My son in law has a 2020 and it is more cramped in the front than the Twins. The back seat is almost un usable for anybody over 5 foot. Not because of leg room (although that does suck for a 4 door) but because to roof curves in so bad you have to lean into the car to sit upright.

2019 Hatchback. I do prefer driving the Mazda in a sense of comfort and room for my elbows. Road feeling wise, BRZ all the way, I hate taking sharp turns on the Mazda because it feels so disconnected, comfortable, but disconnected.

Both my siblings have been able to ride in the back comfortably with me in the front seat, also around 1.70m to 1.80m.

His is the sedan and that probably makes the difference.
You can sort of see in this pic how the roof and back window force you onto an angle.

Yep, there's a little more room height wise on the hatchback.

Just an Impreza hatch with an RS trim? Doesn't do much for me.

2.5 with less power than FA20 and cvt only. Sick, you can turn off traction.

sounds like my entire family. they're all used to driving trucks and suv's. nothing but complaints.

according to them, the car rides like it's on rocks, and is so low we're driving underneath all the other traffic...
