I have got rid of all my corded tools. Have a medium quality skillsaw, reciprocating saw, drill and impact that are pushing 10 years old and still good. Both my home and cottage lawnmowers are 40 volt. My weed eater and leaf blower are both 20 volt using the same batteries as the mowers. I just got a 16"chainsaw that is also on the same 40 volt system. They all work well and since I got 1 or 2 batteries with each I have a shitload so there are always several ready to go. The modern batteries are half the size with twice the length of operation and I will never buy a corded tool again.

We don't even use air let alone something corded at work very often anymore.

You three in particular, know that I'm downright anal about my battery chemistry. I'll ditch the cord when I can easily replace the cells in my batteries without risk of fire due to incompatibility. Right now, battery packs are to cordless tools as cartridges were to ink jet printers. It's bullshit.

A lot of the big battery banks for the off the grid campers are just stacks and stacks of 18650's series' and parallelled together to get desired voltage and capacity.

dewalt's always made some of the more typical stuff. i'm not a big dewalt fan, my dad got burned on the 1+ year turnaround times on their older 18v drill repairs. at one point he had 4 drills circulating the repair circuit...
milwaukee in about the last 3-4 years has just started pushing to make all sorts of hand tools, but most of what they make, they're pushing to disrupt the market in one way or another. i think they had great success in the electrical/plumbing industry, and are looking to expand to other trade markets. they actually have reps that are somewhat visible/available to talk to, so i end up hearing more from them. they're doing externally-square sockets so they don't roll away, better laser etching/paint to more easily see the size marks, and have made a ton of progress in terms of warranty replacements--they're actually replacing individual pieces, and less than 2 months turnaround these days. 3 years ago, i threw away a screwdriver set in front of the milwaukee rep. i used 1 screwdriver out of the kit for it's features for the 6 months it lasted, it eventually broke, tried the 'lifetime warranty' , they said they required for a warranty replacement i had to bring in all 8 screwdrivers. i told him "this is where i think of milwaukee hand tools belong, i'm buying klein instead, they warranty individual screwdrivers..." of course, i can't complain about klein. i've purchased 2 tape measures, 5 years ago. they just keep warranty-replacing the broken one's. i'm up to about 15... https://www.ebay.com/itm/14466093022...Bk9SR5KRvqXwYA they've got m12 battery kits as well https://www.ebay.com/itm/12511446389...Bk9SR-TWyKXwYA i'm still thinking how i could use it. a charger/balancer controller that's built around a standardized charger is too cool not to use in a project somewhere...
