and is asinine and useless. Anthony finally weighed his car and it came in at 2280 lbs, which is not much more than a Yaris, and a hell of a lot less than stock. If you don't think that would totally change the car then you are nuts.

Following are the weights of the first cars in Japan. There was a trim level called RA (Race Altered or by SoA Record Attempt) which weighted 1190kg (2623 lbs). This weight was without an A/C and with a ligher factory battery. With an A/C and the normal battery the weight was about 1202 kg. These two gave an almost 6kg/PS ratio and without any carbon parts.

Never understood carbon panels on street cars. looks dumb, and after a few years, looks like shit with highly visible swirls or peeling clear coat.
If you're rolling on stock wheels, get lighter wheels from a quality company. It'll be much more beneficial than getting carbon hoods or trunks and has less tendency to age poorly if you go with a tasteful wheel design. |

I weighed the stock hood vs. a Seibon carbon fiber hood. The Seibon VS style hood is lighter by 3.6 pounds. Other CF hoods and designs might be heavier but that particular hood is lighter.
OEM hood weight = 16.4 pounds Seibon VS style hood weight = 12.8 pounds My friend held onto each hood while standing on a scale then we subtracted his weight. Sorry to revive an old thread. ![]()

Carbon fiber roof is 10lbs which is more weight saved than your average carbon trunk and hood combined.

Does anyone make a carbon replacement roof? All I've seen are the pointless dress-up panels that go over the stock roof. Not saying I'm going through the hassle of replacing the roof, but it'd be interesting to know the parts exist.

Yeah, but remember that you need to clear coat it and install it, and the installation isn't a simple bolt on like a hood/trunk. I'd say carbon fiber material wise it's pretty much on par with hoods and trunks (since they also need stiffening in the attachment points, etc. and typically come clear coated or painted).
