Valentine 1 Radar Install DIY

Sorry if this is old news, but I was so happy to learn that Subaru, in a brilliant stroke of genius, placed a power socket behind the glove box. This allows for a super easy wired install of the Valentine (or any other detector I suppose). Here's a video explanation. A whole lot easier than the same install using an add-a-fuse in my BMW daily driver.

Good stuff. For those with an auto-dimming mirror, there is also ignition-key-switched power available in the headliner. (requires the V1 hardwiring kit, or any other loose-wire to RJ-11 V1 power cable.)

Thanks for this, because my buddy was askin how I did it for my Girls car. But I did not take pictures at the time. We had our escort set up like that. But then I decided to have it hard wired it with the ignition. We now have it set up so we can leave a phone in the glove box to charge.
We bought a "blendmount" for the detector as well. On hot days the suction cups would fall off sometimes.

sorry the pix came out blurry, but u get the idea

Its actually even up there for the cars without the mirror. You just have to fish around for the harness.

Very cool!

Make sure you route the cable BEHIND, or on the front windshield side, of the airbag. Wouldn't want the airbag deployment messed up by the power cord.

I have seen a Dodge Viper for sale that had the V1 intergrated into the rearview mirror. Don't know how they did it but that would be awesome! Also I know a guy that just spliced it into the dome light.
