this weekend, i assembled my new tv stand/fireplace. it went sideways fast.

i eyeballed the height of the equipment opening for my surround sound receiver.

i was within a 1/2", but then way under-estimated the heat dissipation area around the unit...

had to change the feet on it to something lower profile. old feet on floor, new feet screwed on.

and because of the new thermal issue i've created-- it always got warm during use before, but was now going to be almost entirely enclosed on 2 sides.

i located some hoarded 5v usb powered pc cooling fans(from 12 years ago btw. i knew i was saving them for a reason!), then opened up my $2k theater receiver and jammed screws through the housing openings with a screwdriver and sheer will power that it was all going to work out in the end.

funny part to me was taking off the receiver shell. the difference in construction between a $500 surround sound receiver and a $2k receiver? 3 hunks of sound dampening.

after all that, i realized that i have way too many speakers laying around, and there's absolutely no reason not to make an attempt at a poor-man's Atmos setup.

finished somewhere around 11pm, i realized i skipped dinner, and was suddenly hungry for some reason.

No work in my place this week, had to work Saturday. Sunday I helped my buddy sheet half the roof on his 64x36 shop, then felted it. I think I threw a whole unit of OSB myself and am feeling it today. Rained, snow and sleet the whole time.

Cjd is collecting data on power usage of the various plugs. This is showing how much power each plug is using. Smart plugs maybe?

Argh, got estimates for a new patio and replacing my basement door. Shits expensive and they make it hard to figure out exactly what I'm paying for. Grrr...

Circuit monitoring. Installed in the load center. Bit cramped now.16 of 40 monitored. Well, 38 since 2 a/c units. 1 mystery 20a hasn't done a thing so wtf is it?!
But.. I have home assistant so flashed a compatible firmware so it's all in house, no internet needed, no third party slurping my data. Then I made this nifty chart to help me see exactly what's going on where. This one updates every second but I have one for daily use now too.

I also now know just how much power my network equipment, cameras, and server suck up. Oof. And my gaming rig. And my espresso machine.
So far my theory our Volt was having weird behavior and sucking charge time may be right. Perhaps the 12v got low. Hasnt happened since we trekked up to visit my dad.

I'm reading on Google that a plain gray concrete driveway is between $5 and $7 a sq/ft. Why am I not believing this?

Glad I know a concrete sales rep, I need to do mine in the next year or two, it's just gravel now.

I have never even heard of such a beast. I will have to do some searching. I don't worry to much about code. That will be my daughter's problem after I am fertilizer.
