All motor build? Stroke, ITBS, Ethanol?!?
Hey y’all, kinda new to this forum page but I have a question that I can’t find much info on. Obviously everyone likes to talk about adding power to this platform but everyone always does FI. Has anyone actually done a like solid all motor build? I’m talking stroked out to 2.1 / 2.2 L, ITBs, Ethanol, cams, like the whole shibang? Could you make a noticeable amount of more power? Something like 250 maybe even 300? Kinda just tossing ideas out there, the feel of the NA is so much more enjoyable and predictable in my opinion and I’d love to hear y’all’s thoughts on the idea, cheers

I was once demonized for calling such a thing stupid, but people didn't seem to want to admit that I suggested that if the engine was restricted to NA by some class rules or if you just wanted to be fruity and have fun all good. This would fall into the latter category. You would spend more money to get less power, but it would be cool in my book. Would probably sound pretty damned cool.

The short reason is cost: A good S/C kit like (innovate, for example) is less than 10 grand with a few supporting mods, and gets an OEM-like powerband, as well as good reliability, provided you don't go too far above 220-230whp, which would be the upper limit of an NA build.
If you want to go N/A, a K-Swap might be cheaper, more powerful, better supported and more reliable. I've only seen a few videos of cars with the ITB kit running properly. And FA's just don't rev all that well, oiling can become an issue. There's a post by a Peruvian shop about it (whose car also happens to have a twin screw SC): https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134863 |

I hadn’t even seen that 2.3 kit before, Imma have to look into that, and I agree, definitely more expensive but I’m kinda just bored with FI builds, my two other cars are FI and I really don’t wanna jump on the bandwagon of just FI. I’ve ridden in a few FI Brzs and they’re really fun and nice but just not my cup of tea |

It would be more cost effective to sell/trade in the 2015 and buy a Gen2 TBH. Same power as an all out NA FA20 with a warranty. $10k+ for a high strung FA20 and maybe 215whp... IDK man.

Not worth it. Stroking the FA20 is not a good idea.

Yeah I understand that, the car is my significant others and she has a lot of sentimental value with it so if I could convince her, I would, but I’m not even going to bring it up lol

Has anyone done rough costs analysis on a FA24 swap yet?
