Should I trade?

Bought a Limited BRZ and took deliver last November. Only added items were all weather floor mats, the fancy mirror, and the STI short shift kit. Bought it as a track autocross car. It sits in the garage unless headed to an event for the most part. So far eight track days and an autocross day with it. I now have a better idea what direction I want to go with the car, which involves stripping off most of the stuff that makes it a Limited

Should I trade my 2022 limited in on a 2023 premium? I can get a September delivery slot. Trade offer about what I paid for the thing.

Planned upgrades this winter.

Half cage
One piece seats with harness
Coilovers
AP sprint BBK
CAE ultra shifter if I can get confirmation it will fit
Wheels and tires

What about added extras on the trade like tax? What is the out the door total cost for the trade?

Probably not worth it.

I’d get a check when I drove away. Would probably cost me ~$500 in ownership for 10 months.

One of my biggest annoyances is apparently when I go to a one piece seat I will need to keep the seat heater core plugged in and wire tied under new seat. No way with resistors to clear dash lights with out it. At least with the first Gen cars. Sounds like same issue with 2nd Gen.

I also hate the stupid upgraded mirror. Probably irrational but really hate the compass and that I have to turn it off at every start up.

someone would probably trade you a normal one plus cash for the mirror.

I think its worth it for engine alone as long as your loosing less than 1K max. Anything more I rather dump the band new car for a used one if its a dedicated track car. Like a 2015-2016ish model.

I’m not sure what you mean by “for the engine alone”? It’s a 2022 for a 2023.

Thanks, still struggling with a decision.

If a rando on the internet's opinion matters here's mine. A known is always better than the unknown. You have a 2022... why risk not getting a 2023 or some unforeseen circumstance the price jacks higher. Buying a car is one of my least favorite things to do so I say if you like it keep it.

2.0L vs 2.4L. Way more power stock and no more TQ dip.

The 2022 has the 2.4L motor.

Duh sorry I was thinking old gen vs new gen. I would just keep your current car not worth the hassle

Do you have threads with more info on this? I have not been able to find much info on this. Replacing the seat was something i wanted to do as well and am thinking of doing exactly what you are doing (trading from a 22 to a base 23).

I’m struggling to find specifics online. The info is from an instructor at my local track with a 2019 BRZ.
