Chirping noise from the Rear Deck/Trunk

I keep getting this weird chirping noise from the rear deck/trunk when the Car is running.

I have a 2015 FRS RS1.0 so its not the Rear deck rattle problem ( I tried the fix for it anyway and it didnt help). I tried taking the car to the dealer but since its somewhat inconsistent , and surprise surprise it didnt show up when I took it to the dealer. ( I might take it to them again with the video , but I really doubt they would be able to fix it without consistently being able to reproduce the noise.)

This noise has been driving me crazy , has anyone else ever had this issue?

You might need to turn up the volume just a little since there is road noise. But its really noticeable in the car. Its as if the crickets shifted their home from the engine to the trunk. Sneaky bastards

I wish it was , but I tried that already.

It sounds like its coming from the rear deck (though it could be elsewhere too ) , but I cant think of what over there can even make a chirpy noise like that.

hmmmm........what I would suggest is that you lay the back seat down, crawl in head towards the back, feet out the front window if necessary, have someone drive the car over a bumpy road and see if you can get an ear on the sound.

If a LEO stops you, just tell him/her that humfrz told you to do it ......if he/she is an older LEO, he/she will understand ....... I used to live in San Jose .......

OK, plan B.

Treat all the rubber weather stripping that touches the trunk lid with silicone ...... maybe that is squeaking ... ??

I don't know where that noise is coming from. But it sounds pretty bad.

I have one thing to mention about that inconsistency. Maybe that inconsistency have something to do with the car being parked under the sun for a while? My car makes a popping noise in the rear (which goes away when I put the rear seats down). My car is always parked in the covered parking. But when I bring the car to the dealer, they park the car in the sun for hours before they work on it. So, every time I bring the car to the dealer, the noise is not there. Once the car is parked under the sun for hours, then the noise is gone for a few days. Sometimes as long as a week. Maybe your noise's inconsistency is caused by the sun too?

Good idea. Find one of these in your neighborhood, stick em back there and tell them you will give them a 12 pack of "Shopkins" if they can locate the noise ......

Thats a good point , Will try mentioning that to the dealer and hopefully they can do something about it.

I had a very similar sound in mine. I can't say for sure if it is the same thing but the problem in mine was the trunk was rubbing against the tail lights. It started happening when the dealer "fixed" my lights because of condensation. The gaskets are thicker or something so the lights stick out more, actually rubbing against the trunk. In fact, a few spots in the trunk have been rubbed down to bare metal. Took me way too long to figure out this was the problem. I put vaseline (was the first thing I thought of) where they were touching and have not heard the noise since. Although, the vaseline attracts quite a bit of dust and dirt but it's not too big of a deal.

Thanks for your help man....I think it could be a similar issue , I do have a pair of TOMS Tail lights so maybe I fucked up on the installation. Though I didn't have any problems after installation , maybe it takes a while for the sound to show up.

Perhaps the bolts holding the taillights a little loose now and the black housing is rubbing against it. Guess i could drive like this to confirm haha
