Touch up paint for 2023 BRZ Limited wheels?
Does anyone know where to get the proper touch up paint for the wheels on my car?
I got a small chip from a rock, and wanted to touch it up so it doesn't show. |

I've gone down this road with a few different cars. Nothing will be a perfect match.
With that out of the way, oem wheels generally come in 3 colors. Silver, graphite and black. The limited wheels on the brz are more graphite than silver. I'd give this set a shot. https://www.amazon.com/Wheel-Scratch...7&sr=8-13&th=1 I'd pick anthracite and go very light with the application. Use a wooden toothpick to fill in the chip slowly to avoid over application. Again, it wont be perfect but it will fill in the chip and from the distance people will see your wheels, it should be fine. |

Maybe this may work better? https://www.amazon.com/Sportline-Tes...%2C103&sr=8-17 Does anyone have a tesla to confirm a close color match? (the more I look at it, the more that it looks like a completely different color) Either way, the mark that I currently have is so small, that almost any grey family color/finish would work fine. I would like to get it really close though, this way, I have paint for if I get any real damage, or to at least help others. Last edited by Up4speed; 05-26-2023 at 08:24 PM. |

I know this is going to sound crazy, but I would start with a call the dealership.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but don't worry or stress about that tiny nick and put any money for paint/repairs towards a new set of wheels instead.

Hey every penny counts.
And do you care if/when they get rock chips?

If my wheels do get chipped, it will be a PITA to touch up since I had them ceramic coated like I did the car.

Funny story. I know I'm the oddball here, but, I really like the stock wheels compared to any aftermarket wheels that I've seen. I also don't trust hub centering rings, and I haven't found aftermarket wheels that don't have them.
One other thing is that I wanted to leave the stock size because I appreciate the handling characteristics and steering feel with the stockers. So ready for the funny part..... Since I will be taking the car to the track once it's broken in, and burning through a lot of tires, I purchased more stock wheels with rubber, so I can have spare wheels after the rubber is worn. I now have a total of 3 sets of stock wheels for the car! lol So even though these little chips annoy me (I'm super anal with all of my cars), I'm not too upset because my plan, (after all the stock rubber is worn) is to take 4 perfect wheels out of the bunch, and mount all season tires such as the Continental DWS 06 (those should last at least 6 years due to low milage on my cars). Then take the most damaged 4 (hopefully mostly perfect, other than small things like in the above photo) and put RE71RS tires on them for the track. And finally throw all the remaining wheels in the attic so I can use for spares. I'm definitely a little nuts, but I'm ok with that, lol |

i used "satin dark grey" from the wheel fix scratch kit that is linked above
its VERY close. here's a before and after. the after was only 5-7 minutes in.. its fully dry after 15-20 mins and gets lighter as it dries. wheels are dirty as heck overall 7.5/10 on matching. it works great to hide stuff at 5ft+ up close if you pay attention you can tell its touched up as its slightly glossier than the original finish. i may take 3000-5000 grit sandpaper and wet sand it then do a quick compound/polish to get rid of the paint line from the masking tape and make it blend a tiny bit better. prep is key. the smoother you make it look, the less noticeable it will be. i was being lazy but if i took an extra 30-40 mins sanding it down and really making it even and smooth, the results would likely turn out even better. i rarely clean my wheels, so under dirt it likely wont be noticeable at all ill clean my wheels and try to get a better pic |
