Seems to me it would be easier just to go water-meth injection.

He never follows through, so I assume he's just gonna drop it and then talk about how great the system idea was even when he never actually did it. Is always the same, project cars, house projects, big purchases.

Well following through is the tough part. Maybe go over and give him a hand?

Yup! Doing both front & back. Save on water and maintenance.

Hard no. Last time I hung out with him is when I invited him over to detail his car. I'm in the middle of the detailing and he randomly asks 'Do you suspect that you have any precious metals in your house" . So I reply "Excuse me? Like jewelry?". He nods and says that he means that if I have any idea if there's any precious metals in my yard. So I say no. I don't know.
He then proceeds to open his trunk, and pull out this huge metal detector, and starts going around my house with it. He even wiped out this belt with a bunch of digging tools. He then started digging on my flower bed.

Lets not mention the time when he tried to convince me that he has "scientifically" certified to fish sharks and tag them, so he wanted me to join him for a whole day doing such. I didn't know there was such a term as scientifically certified.

which route are you going, top soil and then hydro seed. Or top soil and then buy the grass and then roll it out.

Well damn.... I mean I guess in the long run it will pay itself off on water bill savings. On the bright side, your house will be the image of "The grass is always greener on the other side". Because come winter, your house will always be green no matter what.

Kinda stuck with the guy at work. 40 hours with my crazy highly political coworkers and this guy is more than enough. Needless to say I haven't invited him over ever since.

In the winter, grass will be hidden under the snow lol

2 main things that we decided go with artificial grass is 1. Me & my wife aren't green thumb. We kill all the plants. 2. Save on water. Water bill isn't cheap here to cut that cost down, went w artificial instead of natural. Of course it still get hot and need to water to get the temp down, but it doesn't need as much as natural grass.

I agree, yard-work absolutely sucks. I do believe you that is expensive. But works out in the long run.

You should start an anonymous blog on your day to day shenanigan's at work. It will be therapeutic and other people can get enjoyment out of it.
