Also, I didn't crash my FR-S this week... but as Scarlett O'Hara said, "Tomorrow is another day."

Since it was a rental I have no clue on reliability but understand they have come a long way from the old ones.
Drivability was not bad if you need a car just to zip around town and it actually handled really nice when I took it through the canyons. The steering is spot on and the suspension did an OK job of keeping it in the right place in a turn. It does of course tend to understeer but not horribly.
However, the acceleration of the AT from a stop makes the FRS seem like a Mustang GT and I thought it was going to blow up every time I pushed it. The injectors sound like a machine gone going off beside you even at an idle and there were so many creaks, rattles and other interior noises the FRS now is like riding in a Lexus.
Controls ergonomics were poor and the placement of the shift lever was designed by a mad man in a fit of total hatred for all drivers (and that was with AT with MT it would have been worse). All the gauges are crammed into the one little circle and you are not really sure if that is the tack or temperature you are looking at with a quick glance. Whoever designed a gas gauge that only shows in 1/8 of a tank blocks should be taken out and shot. Seating was comfortable but the rear seats are only about 5% more useful than the FRS and the "trunk" is about the same size as the glove box on my old 58 Chev. By folding the rear seats forward you gain about 3/4 of an inch and getting two suitcases in there tested my Tetris skills to the max. It did have some really slick fold down arm rests for the front though.
All in all it was a good little rental and handled my driving in the nightmare conditions of Vegas like a champ but I would never want to own one.

Doesn't have to be deliberate. It was at a minimum, negligent. I would say grossly so. I would be inclined to forgive if not for all the evidence continuing to indicate a lack of remorse on her part. At this point, in my mind, she's an ongoing danger to herself and others.

Damn it I accidently derailed a thread in a serious direction. Must be a first for me.

That Costco crash irritates me so much. We all should have to retake a drivers test every 5-10 years to get the morons off the road.
I would be first in line to pay voluntarily for it too if it helped get rid of some of these elderly drivers that have no place on the road.
Not that younger drivers don't cause accidents also but when they do, they probably actually had an idea that what they were doing
was wrong to cause it and not just mindlessly mashing at a gas pedal and be thinking it was a brake. If not the test retaking, there
must be a way to reevaluate the drivers on the road and get rid of the rotten apples before they cause more mayhem.

To me, this is the silver lining to our impending robot car overlords. Leave the driving to people who want to spend the effort to do it right and enjoy it.

Incidentally, the only accident my BRZ has been, I got t-boned by an elderly driver in a driveway entrance. It was the type of accident that I never would've guessed could happen (intending to turn right, he went *really* wide - like "going straight ahead instead of turning" -wide)

I'm so glad you all did not crash today! Interesting, though, how many of these posts tended to be young guys crediting their good fortune to not having to deal with "elder" drivers. I'd be curious to discover the percentage of young vs. older drivers who end up crashing their cars. I'm pretty sure I'm one of the older drivers on this forum and it's been a long time since I was involved in a crash. Still paying the higher insurance rates, though. Just sayin'...
