North Texas Autocross Thread

Tire wear was a contributing factor. Being the last car in the morning session meant that we had maximum gravel, the tires had no tread on the outside 2", and I was being less than patient all led to the excessive drifting. As a driver, it is my job to drive within the limits of traction (or as close as possible) but my job was made harder by the conditions of the tires.

The RE71's do grip all the way down though, so I don't think we were giving up much time except for when we lost traction (which was easier to do than if the tires were fresh).

Saturday's BMW autox at Mineral Wells is low on registrants. They offer 8-10 runs for $30, and almost always get done early (I usually get home the same time or earlier than a Lone Star Park race, even though Mineral Wells is 30min farther away for me).

If you aren't a bmw club member, you can still go just put in 123456 for your member number. Registration link.

No rain in Mineral Wells:

Tires are well and truly past their useful life, debating making Shneegle run on them with me at the next ER event (they might work okay at Burleson and its concrete).

Do it if you want Sam, as long as we are both on them w/e. Just remember Miles will be back in his is300.

I had to swap out my brake rotors and pads, so I put the better tires on. Shneegle and I placed 2nd and 1st in STX respectively. We couldn't catch Bslate3, who was the fastest twin. This victory clinches the ER STX championship for me, and Shneegle is guaranteed a 2nd place finish. David (Shneegle) had to codrive with me since his car won't pass sound at Burleson. The course was tight and very technical, but fun and fair. Here are our runs:

Yesterday was the annual Roadcourse event at TMS, I managed to take the win in the STX class, Shneegle took 3rd, and my co-driver Curtis finished 5th just ahead of Ryan Garabedian.

I got to terrorize the Miatas at the road course in a borrowed car... I don't think Mick or Buck much care for me anymore.

NTAXS was super fun today. The weather was almost perfect and the event ran very smoothly. I ended up 2nd in Class 1 (out of 31 cars!) and 6th fastest raw time of the day, just edging out Ken O (he was not happy).
