2017 BRZ / 86 Head Unit into 2013 FR-S?

Has anyone successfully installed a 2017 HU from either a BRZ or 86 into their '13 FR-S?

Are you buying one? I know this isn't the answer you want but there are so many better ones out there. People are complaining about the HU.

Look at pioneer nex or avic HUs. They offer a lot of nice features.

i did, and the major reason is that i want the clean fitment for my dash and most importantly is the volume knob, i also install after market backup camera and works beautifully. there's definitely some short coming on the 2017 86 head unit, i wish it has better eq and maybe even RCA output.

before 2017 86 HU, i had the original Ca-fi Dashlink 4 and Kenwood DDX616WBT and both are collecting dust now.

yes, except backup camera which require an after market adapter AND a home made relay circuit.

I would sincerely appreciate on topic replies only. I didn't make a post asking for opinions on the 17 unit versus aftermarket units. Thanks!

i forgot to mention i also wiring it to a 3 port USB hub. one port to my old iPhone 5S as a music player (via lightning cable. if you have an old iPod with 30 pin connector, it will works too but you will hear a lot of cracking sound and i don't know why) that hide in the glove compartment and front USB port for whenever i want to use it, but this unit can only charge 2 phone at any given time, not 3 for sure.

I'm about to take out the Factory 17 head unit to replace it with an aftermarket one. I would think about selling mine, But the 17 has that trapezoid shape, are you sure that will fit in the 13 location??

Sell it with your dash trim. Can't comment about the wiring.

Seriously? Why do people complain so much about the stock head unit? Whats garbage about it? It connects with my Android phone with bluetooth and plays music flawlessly and doesn't sound bad at all. It's a tiny bit slow, but other than that it works like it should.
