GR86/BRZ Track Comparison (Japanese)

Japanese press release including the old model one and both manual and auto versions of the new one.

If someone else could translate, that would be great lol!

Drift King timings!
GR86 MT 1min 19.54
BRZ MT 1min 20.10
GR86 AT 1min 20.59
BRZ AT 1min 20.71

Compared to Noblesse (I assume same conditions):
GR86 AT 1min 22.09
GR86 MT 1min 22.78
BRZ AT 1min 23.14
BRZ MT 1min 23.14

Is ‘BRZ’ new BRZ or old BRZ?

New one, its in the AMW video which featured neither old car.

Seems these cars from what I'm seeing in Tsuchiya's driving have returned back to the 2013 days where Toyota is slightly more tail happy and Subaru is more prone to understeer. It will be about the 45 second mark where he appears to countersteer more with both GR86s while the BRZ significantly less dramatic.

in the below video (i know its a repost), see 3:00 to 4:30, turn on subtitles and auto translate. it seems to say that the new BRZ uses aluminum front knuckles while GR86 uses cast iron...... anyone can verify?

It’s surprising the Toyota is significantly quicker.

There’s no way. Could they be talking about the old one?

I think it really is different between the two. A moment later in the video, they move to the "chassis" where the left side is the BRZ and the right is the GR86. The left side shows the aluminum part and the right side the steel. Likewise when they go to the back they show the GR86 having a thicker sway bar.

Yea it definitely is steel. That's interesting! It sounds like it's stiffer though? Regardless, it's not that difficult to change, and the 86 is supposedly faster on track.
