Scion FRS - Track Dream build - under $20k - Normally aspirated
Let's say you have $20k to burn in parts for:
Total track car conversion no forced induction. Free labor. For me that would look something like this: Exterior: seibon carbon hood: $800 seibon carbon fenders: $1600 seibon trunk: $1500 Drivetrain: Wheels: Enkei 17x9 $1000 Tires: BFG R1 $1000 Brakes: AP Racing Endurance $1500 Brake lines braided: $200 Brake cooling: AP Racing kit : $1000 Chassis & Body: Suspension KW ClubRacer: $3200 Adjustable Arm kit: $3000 Engine: Perrin CAI: $200 Perrin Oil Cooler: $1000 Koyo radiator: $400 Intake plate: $200 Interior: Seat: Momo Daytona $1000 Steering wheel: Momo endurance : $300 Sterring wheel quick disconnect: $300 |

You won't save much weight at all by swapping the trunk and hood w/ carbon fiber.

What's the goal? I feel like the term "track car" gets thrown around a lot.
If it's a dedicated track car, I'd want the proper safety equipment eg, roll cage, etc |

Track car: car ready for racing, but mainly used for HPDE and small car racing without hope of winning. So it doesn't need the additional $20k on top to be 'competitive'.
Safety: $5500 -------- Rollcage custom build: $3000 Fire suppression system: $2500 Drivetrain: $4700 ------------ Wheels: Enkei 17x9 $1000 Tires: BFG R1 $1000 Brakes: AP Racing Endurance $1500 Brake lines braided: $200 Brake cooling: AP Racing kit : $1000 Chassis & Body: $5200 ------------------ Suspension KW ClubRacer: $3200 Adjustable Arm kit: $2000 Engine: $2800 --------- EcuTek tune: $1000 Perrin CAI: $200 Perrin Oil Cooler: $1000 Koyo radiator: $400 Intake plate: $200 Interior: $1600 ---------- Seat: Momo Daytona $1000 Steering wheel: Momo endurance : $300 Sterring wheel quick disconnect: $300 Total: $19,800. |

First and foremost, ditch the carbon fiber and get a full, custom roll cage, harnesses (I'd assume you already have a HANs device) and mounting of your fixed back seat. Then go with 17x8 wheels (do long wheel studs while you are at it so you can get them on and off more easily), you don't need the extra width that much when on stock power and the tires are much cheaper. Your brakes are not the right price, $2600 is the list price for the endurance kit, but probably better to get the sprint kit ($2100) since it weighs less. I'd skip the cooling ducts unless you actually manage to need them, less chance of overcooling the rotors. And don't forget pads for the rear (figure $220) and some new brake and other fluids ($300 worth or so I think). For the engine, I'd do the JR oil cooler (more capacity) and skip the radiator (not needed on stock power). Also don't forget a catch can and removal of cats along with a solid tune, probably for E85. And the different steering wheel? I wouldn't bother with that. You would want some data logging though, for that price you could have it permanently installed which would be nice. I'm not that familiar with the coilovers, but I would budget more for that; you want to keep the wheels on the ground as best you can! If there were any budget after that, I would think about a different differential; the e-diff function gets annoying pretty quickly once you turn off the traction control and I hear it should help with that.

I would get a shorai battery before most of those parts. And also fixed buckets both front seats. Remove rear seats and spare. And front brake kit. Saves 130lbs right there

My car will have a full roll cage, no need for anything street legal but anyways here we are only talking about parts that would just as well bolt on a street car, aside of the cage and fire system. You're not messing with the fuel system... are you? No need for fire suppression if you're not.

For HPDE it will not be needed but I am planning to register for some local races and they ask for it.
