So it was between a 2022 (5k miles through Carvana, because yeah, I can't really find a new one that isn't being sold for $44k) or a new model 3 Tesla. I really wanted a new 86 or BRZ, but I couldn't find one that was reasonably priced. The Tesla would have been "fine". I guess I was just bummed that I had a find a car right now and I didn't the same choices that I did have 10 years ago. #firstworldproblems
But some good news, she isn't totaled somehow? Waiting on next steps ... |

I'm pretty sure the repair came within a very few dollars of being the total value, if not more, of the repaired car.

Used cayman prices are coming down. Running costs are more but that flat 6 sound is heaven and it’s my weekend car. I use my 16 BRZ as a commuter, and if an SUV mated with it, I would certainly consider a new one, in auto of course. But I would definitely cross shop if the prices were too high. I know this, I would miss it if it was gone. My 04 WRX needs some front end work, waiting for my guy to have time. I miss that and it’s only been a month. These cars are really great if they fit your life.

I'll be keeping the FRS as a weekend toy. That's assuming Cadillac ever manages to deliver my order. I'm #4 at my dealer.

If you can still roll with a 2DR RWD Coupe Honesty for the money new there is nothing better.

Yeah, do it again. I just replaced my Gen 1 with a 2022. Admittedly my 2017 was on coilovers etc, but if youre after a little more comfort the Gen 2 feels ridiculously compliant compared to what I remember of mine standard. Seats are much softer too - Not necessarily better, but softer.

i wouldn't do a '22+. the newest i'd ever go would be a '19, with a strong preference to getting something '14-15, before the lcd became part of the cluster.
but even the '13 is still one of the newest cars of the type that it is. if i struck out the 86, i'd be considering 240 z's, silvia's, and mr2's a decade older.

I've owned both prior two models, go for it.
The car is different enough to engage a new car feel. The better interior, new exterior design and the power / torque placement. However, familiar enough to get into and know what to expect and be familiar with working on it. I'd do it again.
