Wheel Recommendations
Hi all,
Its time for me to upgrade my summer tires and I was looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport 4S, but idk if its worth buying those and putting it on the stock performance package wheels. Anyone have some suggestions for new wheels?? Also side note, where do you guys buy TPMS sensors? I hate the stupid light thats on the dash lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Why not put them on the stock wheels? Do you plan on changing them?

I've only been running the stock performance pack wheels since I got mine. I've been through a bunch of different tires (more than a normal person as I autocross a bunch). I like the look of them and we're actually limited to a 7.5" inch wheel in the class.
IMO, if you don't hate them and aren't going for times somewhere and need a wider or lighter wheel, the stock ones certainly work. 225/45/17 fit well. I plan on possibly going with the APEX Arc-8's when it's time. Just be aware that finding a wheel that fits the performance pack Brembos in 5x100 really limits your options. Brembos are great, just not so great when it comes to wheel choice time.

I just got some konig hexaforms with continential ecs2. I wish they were more gold but would recommend both the wheel and tire.

I feel like it's hard to argue against the Apex ARC-8. I just put them on my 2015 and they look amazing. I think the Anthracite color looks amazing on the blue cars.

+1 to that. I've got the Konig Hypergrams in bronze. Konigs definitely run a great price for great flow formed wheels that are light weight. Many of them are designed to easily clear big brakes as well.

For an all season, the Continental DWS 06 Plus are great. Best all season period, in my opinion.
I know you were asking about summer tires in the original post. The Continental ECS is what I'd recommend for a just good overall summer tire, lots of grip for the street, and you could even do an autocross or something if you ever got into that. They're also 340TW, so not super crazy like a more autocross track tire that's going to be throwing every stone/pebble possible at your paint either. And last longer. I told my buddy to get them for his STI and he loves them. Those are my two daily-type picks. No affiliation with Continental - they just make good daily tires, lol.

Coming from Indy500s in 255s to ECS2 in 255 it reduces my cars sketchiness an order of magnitude. |

Everyone who's never had a set of summer tires before LOVES Indy 500's. It's usually a huge jump for people coming from the stock Primacys on these cars or even all seasons on other cars. Back when they were cheap, they weren't totally terrible if you're just commuting or enjoying your car at ~80% on the street. Then prices went up across the board. But the minute you autocross or anything 90% and upwards at the limit, you realize they're kinda terrible. The ECS is on a whole other level for only about $30 more per tire (in 225/45/17 at least). And it still generally wears about the same as an Indy 500. Not to mention it's superior in the rain for sure.

I actually got them as a daily tire when they were 120$ a corner. I tried them for autocross for 2 events and if you over drive them even a little they get all greasy. Good to know about the ECS2 because I have never driven my car in the rain since I boosted it. And yeah they are now meme500s not because of their value but because for <30$ more you could have got rt660s in 255s. |
