So I知 new to this.Lss I got an frs over the winter that need an engine, it has some mods and needs a tune. I bought an ecutek kit off here a few months back. But have not installed it or driven the car much as it was winter. What can I do now to tune it. It has el headers and full exhaust, intake and fuel system for e85. Just no controller for the e85. What are my options?

Shouldn't be a problem
Several options
You can use ecutek map switching to switch maps between petrol 91 and 93 and E85 or like E50 without flex kit assuming car is not boosted

And can use substitute ROMs if USA ones are knobbled by ecutek changes

in the end, it seems that ecutek went a bit aggressive and in version 53143 the conversion to another market tune doesn t work anymore
still waiting an answer from ecutek about it, but for now best thing for people who wants to convert to euro tune is to buy a tactrix cable to convert to euro with it, then flash normally with ecutek the new tune and license

For people who are already ecutek tuned and want to convert to euro is not a cheap option as they loose the current license and have to buy another one after the conversion to euro

I'm still running my older version of Pro ECU and can turn back the clock on my PC several weeks to within a few days of my last update to keep it operational. Haven't yet flashed any newly purchased calibrations since the newest Pro ECU version has been released, so not sure if my tuner's created files will be able to be flashed by my tuning suite yet. I'll keep you posted as I will be wanting a calibration in the not too distant future.

Thank you tomm.brz for the update.

When you launch Proecu, you're prompted to update. Just hit cancel and you're fine.. I left one of my tuning laptops connected to wi-fi, and the other isn't. They both let me flash the car with old and new revisions of a map. I couldn't find anything in regedit to stop the update prompt

untill version 52999 the trick that enable flashing an euro tune in US cars still works

After that it stops working if you update it
Be aware that if you ever end up updating, the newest version number will be overwritten into the dongle and it s not possible anymore to downgrade Proecu version

Ecutek becoming worse and worse

Hi Tommaso,

Yes we have disabled the use of NEVC now mostly because of the new Green Speed inititive. You can refer to our guide on the new policy for it:

https://ecutek.atlassian.net/wiki/sp...400/NEVC+usage

the link doesn't even work for me

Like a Euro tuning company that pubblicizes itself with picture of Custom inputs called "Flames!!!" and "Insanity Mode" cares about emissions, but in US only. in England you can continue to go around uncatted.

For untuned people who wants to tune, buy also a tactrix and convert to euro before using ecutek so you can have non limited tunes

The problem is that we don't know if there is a limit on how many days that can go by until the update software recognizes that you have exceeded a limit. For all we know, if we reach 365 days, the update prompt may disable that [CANCEL] button in an attempt to force you to update. In that worst case scenario, it would be best to turn back your PC's clock before starting up the software suite, something that is very simple to do....in Windows 7. Not sure if there are any barriers to do so in later versions of Windows as I refused to allow my PC to perform the automatic Windows 10 "upgrade", and actually took steps to prevent it from ever occurring.

Gentlemen, I may not be a professional tuner, but I feel that I'm pretty good at predicting human behavior and what tricks they can come up with to make other people "cooperate" with them. Just look at that whole Windows 10 fiasco several years ago as an example.

And I will also take a second to remind everyone of why they are reading this thread in the first place. Compare my first post to what has changed in the latest version of ProECU, and the results that @tomm.brz received from ECUTEK in his post above. Yeah, I tried to open that link unsuccessfully as well.

Fear can be a powerful weapon and the Federal government is the greatest at using it on its own people, not to mention worldwide. EPA and CARB can go screw themselves.

Thanks Tomasso for the updates. Luckily, we still have our workarounds.

got a summary of the link content from them:

Hi Tommaso,

In short this is the new rule for using NEVC:

The use of NEVC is now restricted on all ProECU release versions, this is specifically intended to prevent Tuners/Dealers from changing the region of a car from US to something else, that in turn bypasses the restrictions associated with Green Speed. NEVC still has some legitimate uses, this include but are not limited to.
Downgrading BMW ecus to earlier revision of same calibration
Correcting a previous region swapped ROM.
Overprogramming support (vehicle dependant)
Installing second hand ECU into car with different CAL
Installing a Gulf region rom in an imported car.
In cases where Tuners/Dealers absolutely need to use this they need to go to the preferences (under Tools) and go to the "Support Preferences" Tab.

In your case, we need to adjust ProECU so that it recognises ZA1JA02G into ZA1JF10G as a compatible ROM so that you can program it.

I will have to add a task for the developers to have a look into this for you.

NEVC being the "force-flashing" feature, correct? I figured they would probably disable that in the forthcoming versions of ProECU, but I wasn't going to be the one to say it out loud.

I have a new prediction, and I'm not condoning nor approving of this, but I believe at some time in the near future, someone will crack the ProECU software, possibly an older version of it, similar to how ECUTEK cracked the Toyota/Subaru ECUs, and eventually leak it to the public for use along with a standard Tactrix cable and without the deskey requirement (if it hasn't already been done).

they must of pushed off the change then because the most upto date proECU still has CPC/o2 as options for inputs.
