Fenders and proportions are the only thing I like on the new 2 series. Headlights are okay. Someone at BMW’s design studio needs to be fired. That M2 is hideous.

People go for crazy for "old school boxy" concept cars.

Company makes boxy production car, it is hideous and every one hates it.

I saw this on the Bimmer forum.. it just doesn't look right.. feels like a kids fairground ride mock-up.. too clumsy/clunky..

Looks like it's wearing an extremely cheap fiberglass body kit.

Can't believe this made it through several iterations of design and approvals at BMW.

First one that pops to mind is that Nissan 510 concept car. The IDX or something like that.

There have been others though.

Then you have everyone drooling all over the box flares on the E30 M3 or the Starion.

Well concepts have some overly exagerrated pieces that make the boxy look work. Then when it becomes productionized it gets toned down and ends up looking like someone pasted a horrible bodykit onto an otherwise mundane looking car.

And thats the problem with this 2 series. Stock form its fine, a little boxy, a little not. But once you add a bodykit to it, it looks worse, now you got flares and additional boxiness that shouldnt be there.
