Def would still get a GR86/BRZ.
Even if money wasn't an issue I don't believe there's anything out there that offers what the twins offer; The car is just fun no matter what you do to it, or just do nothing to it....still fun

If I wanted anything more, there's the C8.

I think I'd be in the same boat. Though I'm sure it'll be heavy. But it's an actual Toyota engine, so that's worth a lot too.

Well, if money were no issue...maybe an FR-S with a drivetrain swap from the Corolla GR FOUR.

It’s 3250lbs! Not super light but it’s pretty impressive.

Yep, throw an AWD system and an OEM turbo system on the FR-S and I bet it would be 3100+ lbs. The Corolla has 2 extra doors, 2extra inches of steel, and a bunch of extra tech. i'd say 3250 is pretty good.

I'm a whore for lightweight cars that I struggle to fit into (Elise, Miata, S2K, etc). At 6'3" and all legs, I fit very well in the 86. More power with more weight to me says "more momentum, more wear on hardware, more money to fix it."

If money were no issue? No, I wouldn't take a GR86 or a Supra.

The BRZ/GR86's #1 selling point is that it's *cheap* fun.
The Supra has engineering/design issues and appeals to a "certain customer", aka those die-hards who love the Supra name and mythos.

If money was no object and I was looking for a fun DD/track car, it wouldn't be either of those. Maybe a new 'vette, maybe a Radical, maybe an Ultima GT-R if I felt like also having a project.

I mean, what's the stipulation here? I've already got a BRZ and a 750i XDrive. Do I keep both of those?
Yes?

Then why would I want a second-gen BRZ? I've already got a first-gen.

No?

Well, which car are they taking? If it's the BRZ, then I'll take a second-gen. If it's the 7er, then I'll take the Supra for the highway cruising, since the Supra is more luxurious (but they'd better give me some money back along with the Supra).

In the end, the question is "I don't know which sports car to buy, I'm considering the new BRZ or a new Supra" and my answer is "If you've got new Supra money to spend on a sports car, I wouldn't buy a new Supra or a BRZ". Yeah, I know all three of the cars I said are more than the Supra costs, but, eh, that's what I'd have.

EDIT: M240i xDrive for Supra money.

Neither. The low cost of entry and upkeep for both versus their overall offering are the main attractions. Mind you this is my second BRZ and I’ve had two modern M models lately, a CTR and a couple RX8s, so Toyobaru has a good formula for me.

OP should have been a bit more specific, if money is no object aka price is irrelevant then too many other offerings that would be better.

Now if you set a budget of say $60k, and want to know do you blow it all to buy a new stock supra or a new stock GR86 and have about $30k you could put into it.

What's not specific enough? Money is not a factor in choosing A or B so which would you chose out of A or B. There is no C,D,E, or X option.

8 pages of people choosing CDEX+ would say otherwise.

The problem with most "sports" cars is that they are really high performance luxury cars. For me, the ideal minimalist lightweight sports car would be a fixed-roof Miata or a cab-rearward 50/50 FT86. Pretty much all the more expensive "sports" cars are overwrought and overweight, by hundreds of pounds. Every car is a host of compromises, most performance cars are compromised by having to coddle rich people. Ideally there would be a ~300hp 2-seat sports car version of the FT86 (what the new Supra *should* have been!), but I guess there's no money to be made producing one, and Porsche has long since abandoned ideals of simplicity and lightness... FT86 and Miata are still at the top of my list if I had to buy a new car, even if price is no object.
