Anyone have some tips before I tackle these bumper scrapes?
When I bought my car she had a few imperfections, the drivers side scratch on the bumper is the only one that really bothers me but I figured I would do all of them while I'm at it. I have a sanding block and various sandpapers, sandable primer, rubbing compound, groundcoat, midcoat, and clear coat bottles from automotivetouchup. I was wondering if anyone had some advice on resurfacing, or touching up a Tricoat paint.
The damage is most likely from sidewalks, no prior attempts to repaint seem to have been made. |

Oh,..... that almost looks like it's due for a re-spray.
However, if you're going to give it a DIY go, I'd suggest you be sure to remove all the old wax with alcohol, before you start. humfrz |

Lip and skirts?
The bumper is easy since it is so low down a can of colour match spray would do the trick but the ones on the side, not so easy.

I plan on throwing a lip on there but I wanted to do a little damage control first.

You don't need a re-spray. You can do it yourself with great results. Make sure you use SprayMax 2K clear-coat (if rattle can) or a true 2 stage clear. You need a quality clear.
I did half of my bumper with great results. It will take a lot of time (10+ hours for me). Make sure you clear any reside/wax off of the affected areas. Also make sure to scuff up all paint with a scotch-brite pad so it will give something for the new clear to adhere to. Additionally, make sure you do not apply paint or clear with masking tape on (only use the masking tape when applying primer. Make sure you sand the edges of the primer to help eliminate any 'hard' outlines. |

The side damage looks like most would buff out actually. Then just a small amount of touch up on the corner. The bottom side and the front... if you're doing a lip I would leave it alone. You'll mess up the bottom again at some point (most likely) and the front edge of the "fang" should be covered by the lip.

Just to update for anyone else who wants to touchup a Whiteout FRS.. I used the 37J bottled paint from automotivetouchup on the front of my bumper and it turned out pretty good. Large spots in more obvious areas that have direct sun light on the entire area won't look very good. Process was basically wet sanding with 1000-1500-2000, apply base coat layers, dabbing on the second stage seemed to get better results rather than trying to paint it on, and then clear coat. I was impressed by how well it blended it on the tip of the bumper but underneath it was quite obvious, so I decided to give vinyl wrapping a shot. I'm also throwing a lip on there that will cover most of the other damage, the scrape from the first of my original pictures will get touched up afterwards and I'll update to show how that one turns out.
