I had infinity kappa's in my last car and these don't hold a candle to them.
I don't think I'm going to be able to use infinity Kappas again. Most of them have a fairly deep mounting depth and most of these mounts are pretty shallow.

Hard to tell from the pic but it would be nice to fit some 8" subs in place of the rear speakers. From seeing it first hand what do you think?

I agree. Would you go IB or sealed? I'd consider trying IB it's just so much more effort :P

You sure on the door depth? I need to take mine apart soon to measure..

Is there any room for spacers?

I might have some newer Kappas laying around assuming I didn't throw them in the trash, I wasn't impressed at all sadly

Here's a pic with the speaker removed on the door. If you can get your speakers to miss the window you'd be okay. You could probably raise them up a bit but You'd have to start trimming the door panel to get it to fit.

Damn, I hope the actual mounting depth for the 6.5's in the doors are more than only 2", I have 2 pairs of Infinity Kappa component speakers I pulled out of my Magnum before I traded it in and I was planning on putting a set of them into the BRZ since they are really good speakers, not to mention expensive, but they have I believe about a 2 1/2" mounting depth.

That's what I want to put in the doors as well. I'm going to check again tonight. I think with the bracket and maybe a shim they will fit okay.

Should definitely cut a new baffle out of MDF, no need to reuse the plastic bracket thing.

Use a hard wood instead, or paint the MDF really well.. the doors get wet. I've seen more spacers/baffles made of out MDF swell in door than I care to see

I use oak usually for mine. Harder to deal with, but a much better solution.

You could probably fit some subs were the rears are but you would have to make a from scratch bracing to hold it up. It would depends on how deep they where too.
I'm just going to run a single 10 in the trunk for now.

I got some more meansurements for the doors as well. The Infinity Kappa components are going to pit no problem. I was measuring from the door metal opening to the window. From there I'd say you have 2.25" of depth. Might be able to get some more but I wouldn't.

The factory speakers are heald up into the door panel by their bracket so that gives another inch.

I thinking about trying
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_142SAT6...er-reviews-tab
and
http://www.crutchfield.com/p_003SG60...ng.html?tp=919

to build the mounting bracket.

I do love how easily the panels can be taken apart. None of the speakers are very hard to get to.

I looked at mine through the door panel, there's a TON of space between the speaker and door panel.. so a 1" spacer (compared to whatever the stock one is) shouldn't post any problems on all but high xmax drivers. So if the stock spacer is 1" as noted above, then a 2" spacer should fit..

Can anyone measure the distance between the 3 OEM mounting holes inthe dood skin? I have a suspicion that they are the same as in most Subaru vehicles, +/- a mm or so.
