What is your dialect?

I was just looking over some maps of how people in the US say different words, and its fucking interesting as fuck! for example

I'm from the South, so I didn't know people called doing donuts "whipping shitties"?

anyway here is a site with a bunch of maps with different words and sayings

http://spark.rstudio.com/jkatz/SurveyMaps/

and here is a site you can go to take a survey of your dialect

Not surprised by these results; I live on the border on the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in Ontario and most of the red is either in that area or up near Ontario in general

I live in NY right next to NYC where I formerly lived. Map seems to be right on point.

Do you think there is a difference between dialect and accent? My map said deep south, because of the words I chose, but many people have told me I don't reallly have a southern accent.

My dialect is hellah west coast, but Louisville, Tallahassee, and Lexington are the darkest colors of red. Weird, and I'm an military brat growing up, so I guess it's just really broad. Mid - Latitude and southern dominated, very interesting.

interesting, hawaii is the most similar. How is it different from Londoner's accent? Isn't that supposed to be proper english?

After doing the survey again it looks like down to the amount of common answers to 'what do you call...' questions.

Massively, though this survey doesn't really deal with accent.

I was raised in and lived in Oklahoma until 23 years old. These results definitely make sense in my case. Pretty cool little survey.
