TLC Auto Detail - Subaru BRZ Opti-Coat Pro

Had another BRZ come through the doors the other day. I must say that I am really enjoying working on these and the FR-S! Very cool cars that seem to be put together very well, packed with features, and a blast to drive!

This one was booked for paint correction and an application of Opti-coat Pro.

Here is how it showed up. Fairly dirty, and in need of some TLC!

We started with foaming the exterior to help break up any big debris. While the foam was dwelling on the surface we agitated the emblems, body seams, and trim to get out any build up gunk.

After a good pressure washing, we performed a two bucket wash, used Car Pro Iron X to remove any irons particles, and then clayed the surface to remove any left over bonded contaminants.

We then addressed the wheels, tires, and wheels wells. The wheels were cleaned with Car Pro IronX and various Wheel Woolie brushes, the tires and wheel wells were cleaned with Meguiars APC+. The wheels were coated with opti-coat pro, the tires dressed with Car Pro PERL, and the wells with Meguiars Hyperdressing.

Next the engine bay was addressed. It wasn't terrible, just needed a little clean up. we used APC and various brushes to clean it up, then dressed with with two coats of Sonus Trim and Motor Kote.

Now we can move on to the paint. It was in rough shape for a car this new, but nothing we haven't seen before.

Notice the buffer trails on the hood. This is a sure sign that someone tried to buff this car with a high speed buffer and didn't know what they were doing.

We ended up going with a two step approach to remove the swirls and maintain maximum gloss. We started with M205 on an MF pad with the Rupes 21, and finished with HD Polish on a green Buff and Shine Pad.

The vehicle was wiped down twice with Car Pro Eraser, and then the paint, glass, trim, and wheels were coated with Opti-coat Pro.

As always, thanks for checking out our write up and we would love to hear your feedback or if you have any questions!
