STI S209 Vs AMG A45S

This month's Evo mag (issue no.272) is running a comparison test between the STI 209 and AMG A45S. I just don't want to read it as I have a feeling that the A45S is going to kick its ass!!!!

Sad when a company throws away it's great heritage....

I agree. They have waited too long to update the car. I don't think their is another sti update coming this year as there have been zero spy shots from anywhere.

I'm of the thinking that Subaru has no appetite to rekindle its motor racing heritage. They've lost the kudos/momentum that they had accumulated back in the 1990s.

New customers don't know the brand for what it achieved in the rallying world.. Hybrid shopping trollies here we come...

That sounds like a lot of companies in these days. Toyota is the same way. It seems all people want are SUV/CUVs and 'cool looking' cars. Not anything with actual performance. If it doesn't have a tablet built into it or luxury leather seats with 150-way adjustment, it's not worth buying.

Don't forget the 'mood' lighting. This is an important "must have" apparently.

As for Toyota, I can kinda forgive due to the GR4 and it looks like they're trying hard with the Supra..

Isn't the new STI rumored to have 400+ hp? If so, thats a pretty healthy number.

Subaru has been pretty lazy with the current gen, but I don't think they've completely given up on the STI badge.

FWIW, I enjoyed my STI hatch a lot. Not so much as a track machine, but more of an all-weather capable street car.

Eh I don’t know I like the high revvy engine of the S209, the unique body work and the limited edition. Although I do like what they had to say about the A45 in the eCOTY. And we don’t even have issue 271 yet, let alone the 272!

The new STI is rumoured to have 350 - 400 horsepower. As for Subaru's return to racing, why would they? They are making money hand over fist (fastest growing brand to the tune of 13%) on mainstream models with a simple value proposition: a modest premium for "full-time" AWD in an efficient package. When I worked at Toyota-Lexus, most people hated the sports cars (dealers included) because they saw it as impediments to selling more profitable vehicles.
