The 7416/7420 are the pad shapes for the Wilwood 6 pot calipers, the 7416 is the super narrow and the 7420 is not the super narrow so it can have a thicker pad.

The 7912 is the rear Wilwood 4 pot super narrow (I corrected the other post for the proper Wilwood pad number).

7416 for super narrow caliper (0.65" thickness pad)

7420 for larger caliper (0.8" thickness pad)

7912 for rear sport performance 4 pot super narrow caliper (0.49" thickness pad)

Thanks for the clarification on the pad sizes.

Another thing I've found on my research is wilwood calipers seizing up and needing to be rebuilt constantly...is this a problem any of you have faced? How's the quality on these builds from your own experience?

I had the SP kit for about ~3 years, I never rebuilt it once during my ownership, despite year round daily driving including 2 Canadian winters in addition to a bunch of track and autocross driving. I had issues with aftermarket pads (EBC Yellow and Winmax W5) not moving freely in the caliper because the specs the backing plates were cut to didn't give the additional space needed for the paint on the ends of the pads. I sanded the sides down, and no issue after that.

I installed STG II with BP40 Front and Windmax W5 rear, 4 corners with braided lines.

Hitting the track next with at MRS Houston with PCA
First impressions:Nice and hard feeling on the pedal, I liked it.Noticeable braking power, I do not know if too bias toward front, since I choose BP40 front pads.Brakes*speaking...at low speeds, no surprise here, so less frustration.*Overall I am satisfied till now, I will review*after*the whole track weekend.

With the information I provided it's pretty simple to go to RR Racing's website and check. If the pad thickness says 0.80" than it's the 7420, if it says 0.65" than it's the 7416.

Update on the Polymatrix Q pads. I did exactly what was discussed above. Added shims, applied brake grease to the back of the pads, and replaced the rear pads with OEM. The squeal is significantly reduced. In normal street driving, it's basically silent. Will sometimes get a faint squeak in the last few ft of a complete stop, but barely noticeable.

I havent done a lot of aggressive braking, but did hear some squealing when the brakes were hot. I'll update on this after I've had a chance to do some canyon runs, but did not happen in normal street driving.

I did have one emergency brake application on the highway (car in front swerved to make an exit) and I was impressed with the brakes. Lots of stopping power.
Probably helped that I was on sticky tires.

Overall pretty happy with the Polymatrix Q pads for street use.

Can you link what grease you used. RR racing is sending me front shims and I just got my rear RR sport breaks on. But no grease was used. So only place is to put it on the of the shim that touches the back of the brake pad on each side? Did you re-bedd the brakes?

Happy with the results at the track, pedal is more firm (I changed the brake lines as well), I did 4 dry session at MRS Houston on Sunday, Saturday was wet. I guess I need to learn how to get more from the new set up, but overall results were very good, I did my PB as well.
Street driving with BP40 pads is a pain, super super noisy.
Maybe the right set up should be BP20 pads or similar, I am not sure that I need a super race compound since I am on 200 tires with OEM shocks. I will investigate further.

The grease was nothing special, just the stuff you can find at any auto parts store. I think Permatex. Apply it between the shim and the back of the brake pad. Rebedded the brakes a bit more after that.

BP20's can be loud under low speed braking.

So I ended up getting stage 1 with BP 20s. After bedding them in, they didn't make any noise for like the first 3 weeks, now they're starting to squeal a little more often and louder...it also doesn't help the fact that its below freezing where I am. So I'm looking to swapping for a daily and keeping the 20s for auto.

So far from this forum, I've heard people using EBC yellow stuff and Polymatrix Q for noise reduction. Can anyone speak to them?

I contacted RR, they recommended Carbotech 1521s which is what I might try unless I hear otherwise.

Also can anyone confirm the AP kit pads fit the wilwood calipers? Someone in this forum mentioned they have the same dimensions

Update so far the grease and extra shims have help alot. 100+ Mike drive mostly freeway resulted in no squeal. Tomorrow will be a test as I normally can get them squeal on my way to work with normal street driving.

I also sanded my pads and also cleaned up the rust line and sprayed them with high temp black vht paint as the kit does not use all of the rotor for contact.

Hi everyone,

Hope you are are

We are running a sale on our Big Brake Kits so if you're looking for an upgrade, now is the perfect time to take advantage!

If you are looking to maximize your "bang for the buck," no other BRZ/FR-S big brake kit will even come close. Our Stage IV kit utilizes high quality two-piece DBA Subaru STi OEM size slotted brake rotors. We have seen many BRZ/FRS owners install STi Brembo calipers, but this will actually result in incorrect brake bias (excessive front brake torque)! After extensive testing to ensure proper brake bias, we selected the 6 piston differential bore Wilwood Forged Superlite calipers, which are radially mounted using our CNC machined brackets. Differential caliper piston bores ensure even pad wear under extreme conditions. The Forged Superlite calipers are anodized black for maximum temperature capability. The Forged Superlite calipers also allow for massive 0.8" thick brake pads for better heat capability and longer pad life (compared to 0.65" thick pads in our Stage I kit).

https://www.rr-racing.com/BRZ-and-FR...gt86fbk022.htm

Please let me know if you have any specific questions or if you'd like a quote!
