Wellll it's 3.5 hours away from us lol. We have one 2 minutes from the house that has been dubbed "the lizards tail" by locals though. Basically 5-6 miles with a ton of hairpins/sweeping turns.

I think there is a perception that it is slow because it kind of "slides" or "slips" into gear in an attempt to keep the action from being too jerky.
I'm betting going to an upgraded valve body that provides a firmer shift would remove that perception and might even make it a bit quicker. Question is if the harsher shifting would be suitable for a daily driver and if the cost is worth it.

Great to see a turn out of replies. Initially, I was hoping to see the automatic owners have had experience with the OFT and whether they had any issues between the transmission types. It was my understanding that EcuTek tunes for the manual and auto differ little however the distinct transmission choice would require fine tuning for full optimization of the selected transmission. Perhaps the reason why OFT's off the shelf tunes are fully compatible with the auto and manual is due to the very fact that they are OTS tunes; a good jack of all trades but master of none in particular.

Those 6AT owners with the Stage 1 or Stage 2 tune, are you experiencing the "infamous VVT noise" when revving up to around 4000ish rpm?

.. back to basics
Did somebody have DYNOed 6AT after OFT/ OFT+OFH? If "yes" please post here.
If "no" please do and post it here.
Maybe the soft dev. may somehow provide such an info, at the bottom line people trying to choose from various soft options.
Thanks in advance

Honestly I don't have an oft yet. But the only difference I could see possible in the tunes would be the very low rpm range. For instance, the AT would need tuned for power from 750-redline. Whereas a MT may not need as much tuning that low due to most people "revving" above 750 before letting the clutch all the way out.

I'm planning on purchasing my oft next month so I'll let you know.

Hey,

I have the OFT Stage 1 tune on my stock 6AT BRZ with a drop in filter. I definitely hear a different engine sound after 4k RPM. Sounds sort of a rattling tin can noise but its not. Doesn't sound like a pure NA car anymore...

I believe there were other threads discussing about that particular sound. So Id think its good to know that the tunes are transparent between the transmissions as the manual guys have also experienced that VVT sound at 4k.

Now I'm jealous, always wanted to do the Dragon on two wheels. Until I met my little lady.

Two isn't as much fun as my little lady. Still like riding my Concours and antiques though.
