A higher-stall torque converter and some 4.55 gears would help too...

Level 10 Transmissions in NJ is still looking for someone who wants to make their AT a bit more fun...

Would love to see a full bolt-on N/A car with some 255 DR's, 4.56 or 5.11 gears and a nasty ~4-4500 stall torque converter. Before people light me on fire, I realize that defeats the purpose of the car, but I think it'd be a hoot to watch haha

Spectator's facial expressions would be more entertaining then the car itself.

Same here, no problem power braking with TC off.

Don't feel too bad about this, the first AT owners last Spring had several rounds of "Hey I can't launch this thing/yea well don't press the brake all the way down" threads.

There's a whole thread on the stupid things the 1st86ers did with our cars right after getting them.

I'd say it depends on your goals. I see a lot of people using them primarily as daily drivers with weekend track outings, so having two overdrive gears instead of only one with the manual can be a big consideration. Auto is also a lot of fun with a turbo, but having a clutch for track purposes would definitely be more entertaining. To each their own!

Psh I have no issues with my frs launching it. Even with big fat sticky tires. Currently 278 runs on it. I will say it took me a bit to get it to work like I wanted each time. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VuoCrp5MZyg"]jeremy 6 23 - YouTube[/ame]

I love watching the manual trans snobs wearing out their clutches in 0-30-0 stop 'n go BW Parkway traffic while I relax and enjoy some music. When I was a kid I felt the same way about transmissions and swore that I'd never own an auto. Then I grew up.

Arguably this is a car that should have a MT but it really does depend on what you're using it for and where. Mine is primarily a DD that sees some of the worst traffic in the USA so I make no apologies for choosing the best transmission for my car.

Nah, there are a few of us male blasphemers around. I think we should form our own club AT86 and maybe have pink ugmm light-red shirts made up with some slogon like "Flapping it all day long" or some such thing.

You still paid an extra $1,000 for the auto tranny, and it only cost a few hundred dollars to replace a clutch so HAA-HAaa!....
