What sunshade are you using?
Hey guys, I'm in the market for a sunshade for my car and wanted to get your opinion. I'm thinking of getting the oem subaru shade or something similar.
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B009B7WK7Y/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?ie=UTF8&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER"]Covercraft UVS100 Heat Shield Custom Fit Windshield Sunshade for Select Subaru BRZ Models - Laminate Material (Gold):Amazon:Automotive[/ame] http://www.subarugenuineparts.com/pr...oducts_id=1889 The only concern I have is that these will not fold up easily in my back seats. I don't want to have to throw it in the trunk every time it's not in use. I've seen other styles of sunshade, but they all look really cheap. Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance. |

The Subaru one is very nice. I keep it wedged in between the passenger seat and passenger door.

Is it possible to put it in the rear part of the car? I ask because my girlfriend rides in the car a lot. If you have time, would you mind posting a picture of it folded up?

Yeah it folds up the same as any other sunshade. So you could put it on the rear seats or behind the front seats if you want.

Guy in town just sold his BRZ, and has the sunshade for sale, if interested. I'll send him the link to this thread.

I think I have someone that wants the OEM one I have because I traded in my BRZ. If that person decides otherwise I'll let you know. It also comes with the leather case you slide it into to protect it. It does fold up nicely that you can stick in between the seat and center console or in the back.

I got the HeatShield sunshade. I thought, eh, I might as well save $30 bucks over the Subaru shade, how different could they be? Unfortunately, I don't own the Subaru one so I can't compare, but I imagine they each work just as well in shielding the sun. The fit and finish of the HeatShield sunshade is good so I have no complaints there. However, rolling up the HeatShield sunshade is awkward for me and once it's rolled up, it doesn't really tuck away anywhere, so I throw it in the back seat. If you want a sunshade that tucks away fairly nicely, it sounds like you should go with the OEM Subaru one.

When I bought the BRZ, I pulled out the old SC400 HeatShield and it fit fairly well. But it struck me how noisy it was when I rolled/unrolled it. I can't recall if it was always this noisy, or only after the clear plastic laminate started hardening and cracking/crackling as it aged. I decided to spend the extra bucks on the OEM sunshade. I ordered online for a discounted price, shipped to the dealer for pickup. I'm happy with the OEM sunshade, but the $65-70 does seem kinda high, considering the materials. I considered the CoverCraft, and it would have probably been fine. I think that would have been a few dollars cheaper, and you get color choices (thought about the silver blue for my WRB BRZ). -Z |
